Previously, I mentioned that I like to go all out on birthdays.  Well, along those same lines, that includes making a homemade birthday cake for each of my boys.  I’ve made it my mission to continue this tradition for as long as they’ll let me and think it’s still cool for mom to make their cakes. It all started a couple of years before I had kids.  I was looking for something to do in my free time.  (Yeah, I know…remember those days?)  So, I began looking into leisure classes at LSU and found several on Cake Decorating.  It was a perfect fit for me because I already had a love for baking.  This would at the very least help me...
A few years ago, I (as a new mom of one) hosted a little potluck pool party for some mommy friends and their tots. One of my friends showed up to my house, with her three little kids in tow. As she dashed by me, chasing her toddler who was heading straight for the pool, she hands me a plate of beautifully decorated chocolate covered strawberries.  I was in awe. I couldn’t remember if I brushed my teeth that morning (actually, I think I did since company was coming over!) but she was able to make such a fancy dessert…AND SHE HAS THREE KIDS! I resorted to the fact that she must have paid someone to make them or...
As our kids grow up, they seem to accumulate more and more stuff. But I'm not just talking about toys and clothes.  All those little extras that our kids use and need everyday can start to take over! Today, I'm focusing on the kitchen and all those plastic cups and dishes that get piled up. I've got a great tip today that will keep those lids corralled and the plates from spilling over! Angela mentioned the importance of storing kids' cups and dishes within their reach in this post. Everyone's happier when the kids can help get what they need! Mine even helps put his stuff away when I'm unloading the dishwasher. But what I struggled with for a long...
1  |  2  |  3  |  4  |  5 I don't know about you, but it seems that once April and May hit, our weekends slowly fill up with trips to bouncy houses, pools, parks, and houses.  Birthday party season has officially begun!  And I love it!  There is just something about celebrating another year, which at Judah's and his friends' ages means that so much has happened in the last 12 months, and their abilities and interests are skyrocketing.  So this party season, I rounded up a few of my favorite gifts that hopefully won't break the bank, but will leave the birthday boy or girl excited at the possibilities! 1. Library Tote Bag and Shelf Placeholder.  Buy or make...
When I started gardening last year, I was a complete beginner with no clue where it would take me. My initial goals were to keep at least one veggie plant alive all summer, and maybe even enjoy eating at least 1-2 of the veggies themselves, if I could manage to grow any at all. I wanted to enjoy the process and use it as a learning experience for myself, but mostly garden as a side hobby just for me. Well, as moms we know we can’t even pee alone, so it was silly of me to think I’d be gardening alone. My two year olds quickly invited themselves in on the fun. This year, I’m excited to start up...
