Teacher Appreciation :: Ideas To Shower Your Child’s Teacher With Gratitude

It’s Teacher Appreciation Time!

It’s time for the Teacher Appreciation celebration! It’s time to show our gratitude for all that they’ve done for children this school year (or part of the year for my son Jacob). These teachers have been working hard this entire year to show their support for our children’s scholastic activities. It’s time to give them flowers. Remember, the littles are watching. What they feel matters to you, matters to them (at least before middle school).

1.) First, check out whether the school has a parent-teacher organization that has recommendations or any planned activities that you can help with. Some organizations have special days planned where each day is dedicated to a special way to thank the teachers. Be that parent that goes above and beyond. Ask if they’re any volunteer opportunities to help out during this week.

2.) Second, if there is not anything planned, it’s time to decide on a present. If you know the teacher(s) personally, buy something that you know they’ll like. School-related items are very commonly given. If you could buy something related to their particular school that would be amazing. For example:

  • Personalized tumblers
  • School shirts
  • School-themed picture frames
  • A homemade pencil holder
  • Dry erase markers
  • School bags to carry papers home
  • Baked Goods but be sure to check with the school first

3.) Third, there should be a unique card, personalized message, or individualized picture. This should be as heartfelt as possible. Maybe share a story your little one told you about their teacher. Maybe it was the teacher putting a bandaid over the scar your child got back in 2019. Maybe it was the teacher acting silly one day. This part is so important.

4.) Lastly, the gift card. This part is optional. Try to find somewhere local and popular. You don’t have to go high. Just a little something to say that they matter to you.

Also, try to do as much of this as possible with the children. They’re learning compassion, gratitude, and appreciation as they watch you. Be proud of whatever you can do. They look after our babies after all.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Celebration!!
