6 Tips To Help You Prepare For Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is right around the corner. If you’re not quite ready, don’t worry. I have listed some great tips to help you prepare for your Thanksgiving dinner. It can get pretty crazy around this time, and these tips will not only help save time in the kitchen, but also make things a little easier.

Here’s a list of tips to help your Thanksgiving dinner go smoothly.

Tip 1 :: Deep clean the kitchen

Take any old food out of the refrigerator and throw it out. Wash all dishes and containers used to prepare and store food. This is one of the most helpful tips. Taking out all roasters, baking dishes, and slow cookers, cleaning them, and making sure they’re ready for use including utensils will help save time when you’re preparing the big meal.

Tip 2 :: Plan your menu and create a shopping list

List any ingredients you will need for your Thanksgiving dinner. Also shop for any drinks, napkins, foil and paper utensils you may need, and remember to add any non-perishable foods such as sugar, brown sugar, flour, cornbread mixes and rice to the list. These items are always the first to leave the shelves. Don’t forget to restock your spices.

Tip 3 :: Clean and wash all vegetables

Wash all your vegetables ahead of time such as collard greens, mustard greens and any fresh seasoning you plan on using. Clean, peel and chop them up, and then store them in containers so that they are fresh and ready to cook.6 Tips To Help You Prepare For Thanksgiving

Tip 4 :: Thaw out your turkey in a pan in the refrigerator

Thawing a frozen turkey takes time and patience. It takes 24 hours for every four to five pounds of weight for a turkey to thaw in the refrigerator. A completely thawed turkey can remain in the refrigerator for one or two days before cooking. This is the best way to thaw your turkey making sure your turkey is ready to cook.

Tip 5 :: Make your pie crust

Now is the time to prepare. Making your pie crust and storing the dough in the freezer can free up a lot of time. This is a perfect idea whether you’re making sweet potato or pumpkin pie. Having the dough already prepared can be helpful. You may prepare your dough 2-3 days before using.

Tip 6 :: Clean the house and refresh

Wash any tablecloths that will be used the day of Thanksgiving. Set up the tables and chairs, and put out all the place settings. Making sure any dishes and utensils that will be used are freshly washed and dried including serving dishes as well.

I hope these tips helped you as much as they helped me.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi, I’m Ronnie! I’m married to my husband Jonovon and we have a beautiful 2 year old daughter. In 2019 I graduated Esthetician School which is where I gained a love for Skincare. When I had our daughter in 2020 and became a stay at home mom, I decided to start a new craft and started making handmade soaps. I soon branched out to making bath bombs and then I later added body butters. I now have a small handmade Skin & Body care business. I love being a Mom and trying new crafts with my daughter. Fun fact,I am also a pageant mom! My favorite things include spending time with my family, watching my favorite shows and Holiday Hallmark movies. I also love trying new recipes and baking.
