Especially in the era of COVID-19 choosing a school is a BIG decision and not one that comes easily. The normally HUGE decision of choosing an educational institution in Baton Rouge has become even more of a daunting task with new items to consider like – in person versus distance learning, what virtual learning looks like, and school’s plans for safety during the pandemic. It is our hope that this guide to Baton Rouge area school open houses will make it easier for you to navigate open house season, as well as these new waters of education, during a pandemic.

The Dunham School

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, The Dunham School will not be hosting a traditional open house this fall. However, our admissions office is open every day, and our staff would be delighted to meet with prospective families—either in person or virtually. We also invite families to take a virtual campus tour at their leisure.

Sacred Heart of Jesus School


Established in 1929, Sacred Heart of Jesus School educates PreK4 through eighth grade students at our historic campus in the heart of Baton Rouge. For 126 years, Catholic High School (CHS) has set the standard for excellence in education in the Baton Rouge area. Founded in 1894 by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, CHS is an all-male college preparatory school for grades 8-12 dedicated to providing opportunities for the development of spiritual, moral, intellectual, social and physical growth of each student.
