St. Joseph’s Academy

Catholic Education Baton Rouge

For 155 years, St. Joseph’s Academy has stood as a pillar of excellence in the Baton Rouge community. Founded in 1868 by the Sisters of St. Joseph, this premier Catholic high school for young women is a place where relationships are strengthened and young girls become women of faith, hope and love. SJA is a five-time National Blue Ribbon School awardee, having been honored by the U.S. Department of Education in 1991, 1996, 2002, 2016 and 2023. Academy students grow in Catholic faith traditions through a comprehensive religious education program, liturgical rituals and service opportunities; become life-long learners through interaction with master teachers and mentors; and enjoy peer relationships and learn leadership skills in a variety of co-curricular activities.

In an all-girls’ learning environment, young women explore, learn and grow without fear of failure. They speak their mind, express themselves freely, ask questions, openly engage in the exchange of ideas and find their passion: academically, in athletics and co-curricular activities, in leadership roles, in the arts and in their faith life. They are challenged, inspired, encouraged and prepared for the 21st century world which awaits them.
