Adapting the 2020-21 School Year for Student Success
In the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, we are focused on creating a learning environment where every student can succeed. Although the coming academic year will look different than the past, each child—no matter the circumstances—will have the opportunity to continue learning in a safe educational landscape for the 2020-21 school year.
The changes and improvements being implemented across the district align with our goal of creating an exceptional learning experience for all students:
Delayed Start Date – In response to feedback and the continually rising rates of COVID-19, EBRPSS rescheduled the original start date of the academic year to August 10. This allows educators, students and families additional time to properly prepare for the new year.
All-Virtual Model - To ensure the health and safety of all students, all learning will be facilitated remotely through each child’s school from August 10 through Labor Day, unless otherwise announced.
TechReady Program – The district aims to equip each student with the tools they need before the school year starts. EBRPSS launched TechReady, an online resource for families to receive mobile hotspots and devices to ensure each student is properly connected for the all-virtual learning model by August 10. Visit TechReady.ebrschools.org to request devices or connectivity support.
Hybrid Learning – As the state continues to navigate phased reopenings, the school district remains committed to gradually returning to face-to-face learning for students. When schools shift to in-person instruction, the all-virtual model will continue to be an option for families.
