I’ve heard it said many times and many ways over various times in my life that a woman’s single most important piece of clothing is a properly fitted, quality bra. And I’m here to tell you it’s true.
My husband had recently commented that my bras were starting to look “tired” and that maybe I should get some new ones. Constant opening and closing/pushing and prodding due to breastfeeding multiple littles over the past 4 years without a break? Yep, they’re tired all right, and I don’t just mean my bras.
So on my birthday last month, I decided to go into Bra Genie and see what it was all about (and I mean, shouldn’t everybody take the girls out on her birthday, even if it means at a bra store?). I was immediately greeted by friendly faces and was given a tour of the store. In addition to bras, they pretty much have everything under the sun when it comes to undergarments and accessories. They have every kind of custom strap needed for any type of dress, gorgeous swim wear, inserts for ladies who have had a mastectomy, men’s underwear, supplies for nursing mommas … they even offer personal massagers which are displayed in the back of the store (I admit I wasn’t prepared at all for when we got to this part of the tour … I tried really hard not to giggle, but I’m 12 apparently).
But the piece de resistance of Bra Genie is the ability to expertly fit you for the bra of your very specific needs and wants. Normally when buying a bra, I basically just guess based on … I don’t even know, to be honest … if my boob fills the cup?! I’m 100% sure I’ve gotten it wrong over the years. At Bra Genie, they measure you in great detail, find out what you are looking for in a bra, and show you a very handy dandy way of getting your everything into the bra for the most comfortable and flattering fit. And then there is the vault …
I mean, bras for days. I’ve never seen so many. I think it’s safe to say they have the largest selection of bras in Baton Rouge.
I am still very much in the breastfeeding stage of life, so I need my undergarments to be nursing friendly. No problem – they had a great selection. I tried on quite a few in a very comfortable environment and was confident in my final choice. Tasha, my fitter, was excellent! Not to mention my baby was with me during this fitting, and everyone was very gracious and accommodating.
Excellent and honest blog!! We have definitely all been in the wrong size bra club!
Finally!!! A bra store that sells nursing bras!!!
