We are thrilled to introduce our community to eleven new members of the Red Stick Moms Blog team. Each one is a dynamic, warm and inspiring mom in Baton Rouge, and we can’t wait for you all to get to know them both online and in person at any of our upcoming events. We are humbled and honored to have these women join our team.

Her favorite Baton Rouge restaurant is: The Cove Hawaiian Grill! A tiny hole in the wall Hawaiian joint with the absolute best bulgogi fries & a spicy chicken bowl that will make you cry with joy!

During LSU games you’ll find her: Well, this won’t win me any of the popular votes, but LSU just isn’t my jam, except maybe the occasional soccer match.

Favorite family outing in Baton Rouge? Mid-City Makers Market! A gathering of local handcrafted goodness, I can’t think of anything more fun and relaxing!

Raising kids in Baton Rouge is: Raising kids in Baton Rouge is an … experience. Baton Rouge is full of things to do, once you find them! And the culture here is amazing. I’ve lived in a lot of places, but this one was the hardest for me to “find my fit” and make friends. Now I keep a running list of places & things to do in order to help other moms new to the area!

Our favorite family outing in Baton Rouge: Knock Knock Museum – Every time we go the kids play for hours as if it’s their first visit. I LOVE the maker shop!!

Raising kids in Baton Rouge is: sometimes chaotic! The opportunities and events
are endless so our schedule stay jammed packed.

Her favorite snowball flavor: Dreamsicle stuffed with vanilla soft serve from Sal’s or Chocolate from anywhere else!

Her favorite Baton Rouge restaurant is: We are a big “cook at home” family!! But Bistro Byronz and the Ruby Slipper are favorites of the entire family.

During LSU games you’ll find her: True confession time? I am not much of a football fan… oh, but if I was- I’d be rooting for the LaTech Bulldawgs. Tech fans wear blue!

Favorite family outing in Baton Rouge? We are huge library fans! There is always something fun going on at one of the many branches the city! We also frequent the LSU Botanical Gardens.

Raising kids in Baton Rouge is: delightful. We are never far from a celebration with good friends, we are surrounded by beautiful nature, and we can ALWAYS find a great meal!

Favorite family outing in Baton Rouge? Definitely the Knock Knock Museum or a picnic at Leeward Park.

Raising kids in Baton Rouge is: incredible, and more than I ever hoped it would be! We are so thankful to be established in a community with so many exciting things for kids to do!

During LSU games you’ll find her: My husband works at all of the home games so we’re either visiting Daddy at work or cheering on the Tigers from home.

Favorite family outing in Baton Rouge: Knock Knock Museum, LSU sporting events, and Leeward Park

Raising kids in Baton Rouge is: the best of both worlds. We have a lot of sweet, quiet family time at home as well as many opportunities for culturally-rich and lively experiences around town.

Her favorite Baton Rouge restaurant is: We are so fortunate to have such a vibrant culinary scene in Baton Rouge, but DiGiulio Brothers tops my list.

During LSU games you’ll find her: At the Movement Martial Arts and Fitness Tailgate and/or in the stands cheering and dancing.

Favorite family outing in Baton Rouge? My daughter has recently become obsessed with bowling lately, so you can find us at All Star Lanes Bowling Alley.

Raising kids in Baton Rouge is: a dream! I love the combination of small town hospitality and community mixed in with the cultural diversity, experiences, and access of a city.

Raising kids in Baton Rouge is: the best! I feel so fortunate to raise my family in the same community in which my husband and I were born and raised.


Whitney Andrus

Her krewe: Audrey (11) and Vivian (2)

Originally from: Shreveport, LA – till 7 then Slidell, LA for the formative years, and riding the cultural coat tails of New Orleans.

Her favorite snowball flavor: is strawberry and grape mixed. If they have it in the clear that’s even better!

Her favorite Baton Rouge restaurant: Elsie’s Plate & Pie for their crawfish queso and s’mores pie, and P-Beauxs in Denham Springs – everything there is amaze.

During LSU games, you’ll find her: usually at home, but sometimes out tailgating with
friends. LSU Gymnastics is where it’s at.

Favorite family outing in Baton Rouge: whatever gets the energy out! We have a great park in Denham that’s awesome for pretty days. For the not so pretty days, a bit of creating sculptures, painting pottery, or painting a picture with Brushfire.

Raising kids in Baton Rouge is: always an adventure. Our family lives on all sides of BR and the proximity to Lafayette, NOLA, and the Northshore make BR the perfect hub of hot summers, afternoon (sometimes all day and all week) rains, and a perfect place to plant a garden and raise kids.

Raising kids in Baton Rouge is: amazing! It brings me great joy knowing that we are raising our son in the same city that we were raised because it embodies great family values, sense of community, and encompasses a great history.
