For me, social media is more about memories, a scrapbook of sorts. I’m honest, raw, and probably share a bit too much. With that in mind, I’m very mindful of the accounts I follow. I don’t seek the perfectly curated. I don’t do hard leaning in one direction or another. I don’t do angry or clickbait. It’s not my thing. I’m open to differing opinions and a little mess.
With the last few years our family has had, fraught with trauma and death, I tend to seek pleasant, honest people to surround myself with. This is from tv shows to books to the few non-personal accounts I follow. If you find yourself looking for simple, wholesome content to periodically grace your feed I’ve come up with a list of my favorites!
@wildchildkitchengardens
This is actually a local account! Kellye is a gardener that loves teaching others to make their gardens thrive! We’ve half-heartedly attempted gardening a few times with a few hit-or-miss successes here and there. Then I stumbled across this account! While she does offer paid classes, she also offers up a lot of information on her feed that has helped me better our garden output! She’s got me hooked! I’ve seen such improvement I cannot wait to start her classes to bring my garden to the next level!
@sawneedogs
Okay, I’ll admit I’m new to this one but my sister-in-law recently recommended this to me (she knows my need for decompressing!). This is a doggy daycare/boarding located in Atlanta and their feed is full of adorable puppies!! When I say puppies, I mean absolutely adorable large breeds! Huskies, American Bulldogs, Newfs, Labradors, you name it! Posed in groups, close-ups on pup noses, names of every pup! It’s just pure puppy love over here! So if puppies get your endorphins going, this is a feed for you!
@Sejsejlija
Ever heard of Svalbard or Longyearbyen? It’s an island near the North Pole! A minimally populated island (mostly for research). A place with Polar Night and Polar Day, full of Northern Lights and so much snow! Cecilia shares about her life on the island! You learn about polar bear protection, the banning of cats, and even the alcohol punch card they have for annual purchases! She shares pricing, traditions, and so much more! My kids and I love watching her stories and reels!
@theswissshepherdess
I wish I remembered how I ran across Claire’s page. She was one of my first “just for calmness” follows. She is a legit shepherdess in the Swiss Alps! Her feed and stories are full of life in the Alps! Moving sheep and goats down the mountains, through towns, across waters. You get to see the seasons of shepherding, as their animals are put in the barn during heavy snow, walked under the ski-lift during the summer, and their tenderness to all the sheep and goats born in the spring! You’ll see motherless sheep joined with abandoned babes–even dogs nursing baby goats! When I tell you this feed is full of wholesome beauty, I promise you won’t regret it!
@sashaandnate_
Picture two best friends goofing off, bursting into the most contagious laughter! They do all kinds of IG game filters, sight reading music, and duets. They’re a little NSFK (not safe for kids) as they use adult language, but they’re fun to watch and make me miss my best friends a lot! I follow just for the laughs and I bet you will too.
@tj_therrien
TJ covers the hilarity of your children’s personalities! You guys, if you have more than one child, are a sibling, or just want a peek into the life of multiple kiddos, THIS IS FOR YOU! I cannot tell you how many nights my husband and I have watched TJ’s feed screaming “If that’s not Kid 2!” Or knowing how perfectly he’s going to call out Kid 1. He’s funny, honest, and downright entertaining. You will laugh, you will cringe at the accuracy, and you will send it to your mom-friends and siblings. I promise.
