The Heat Is On :: LSU Vs UCLA
Maison was excited yet exhausted. We had just left his football game Saturday morning on our way to the LSU vs UCLA game. It was a family affair, my sister, brother and sister in-law and my niece who is a future tiger, came to watch the game with us. Before we got to LSU, we stopped and bought cooling rags to keep us from getting overheated and even passing out. We felt the heat for Maison game at 9am. We were going to feel the heat at 2:30pm game.
That did not stop the adrenaline rush we all shared when we arrived at tailgating to party with the Tigers and Fans.
Purple and Gold were everywhere, food vendors, music, and outdoor games for kids. People were lined up on both sides of the street as they anxiously awaited the parade, because the LSU TIGERS were coming through. People were drinking beer, alcohol, and not enough water I might add. Louisiana knows how to have a good time.
As the parade started, it started getting hotter, we wet those cooling rags and placed them on our heads. Here comes the cheerleaders, G-E-A-U-X TIGERS LETS GEAUX, the crowd is screaming the chant back to them, then marching band plays a couple of songs gets us all dancing, and they introduce NICK CANNON, and my niece got so excited when she was able to take a picture of him. Lastly, the mighty TIGERS COME DOWN THE PARADE, high fiving the fans. My son Maison met a player number 79, he started screaming LSU LSU, it was so funny. He met his first superstar.
The heat was on Saturday September 14, 2024, at LSU Game on and off the field. The temperature that day was 97 but felt like 101, and on the field the grass was 103. The Sun was beaming, no clouds in sight and not even breeze help cool that day. As we continued enjoying the tailgate, a little cloud through enough to cover the sun for 30 minutes, to me it was like recharging the sun because once that cloud went away, the song came in my head “THE HEAT IS ON, ON THE STREET.
And that when it started. Not just the game, but people were passing out, being carried out of the stands to first aid. Some were even standing in the ice cooler, the sun was so hot, we immediately started sweating with the cooling rags, we could not have drunk enough water. Well, for me, my son, and my niece, we enjoyed the game in the walk away with all the purple and gold fans who could not stand the heat.
I only drink water or carbonated water and sometimes wine, but I recommend before drinking beer or alcohol please consume more water than you anticipate drinking alcoholic beverages. If you take medications read the side effects because your medication can also dehydrate you causing you to feel weak or even faint in extremely hot weather. Also drink Liquid IV, it really helps with keeping your body cool and hydrated. And purchase cooling rags! That is what helped us to sustain the heat. Dehydration, heat exhaustion and heat strokes are profoundly serious and undetected at times. I didn’t want to post the people passed out or even being transported.
