When Should I Schedule Holiday Photo Sessions?
When should you schedule your holiday portraits? Well, the truth of the matter is you should consider scheduling your session NOW! Doing so will help you to avoid a lot of stress later! Scheduling now allows you ample time to coordinate everyone’s outfits, schedule hair and makeup if needed and get everyone’s calendars aligned to have the date protected. Plus, everywhere you go, the cutest fall clothing is being displayed! So, while you’re getting those schools supplies, take a minute to look at the latest fall fashions and grab coordinating items for the family!
Fall calendars fill up fast for your family and those that you may require services from. And if your family is anything like mine, they need time to buy into the idea of taking family photos, so beginning those conversations now will go a long way.
I know it’s tough to think about with school starting soon, fall sports on the horizon and to do lists that are a mile long, but if you want to take professional photos for your holiday cards, the time is now.
This is your reminder to book your session now and try to get them done before we actually enter the holiday season if you can.
I try to get our photos done each year in October around the time the kids have fall break. The weather is usually perfect – not too hot and not yet too cold – and all of my favorite locations around town are still green or just turning colors. If we’re planning a quick trip, I like to schedule our session the morning before we leave, so everyone is motivated to stay focused and on task so we can hit the road.
Getting our photos done in October allows us to beat the hustle and bustle that most service providers experience come November and also gives us time to choose our favorite photos. Additionally, I have plenty of time to design our holiday cards for printing and can take my time getting them mailed out. Photos also make great gifts! Having new photos have come in handy when I want a personalized gift for grandparents and others. And don’t forget that photo sessions themselves make excellent gifts for those people in your lives that are impossible to shop for!
