Adulting Through Migraines
Lately life has been a blur most days because I have been living with migraines. I dealt with migraines in 2018-2019 and they were horrible then. My daughters are now in high school and our oldest suffer with headaches too.
Head pain is something that makes me want to cry and scream at the same time, but lately I have been having to push through it and just suck it up. Having to “suck it up buttercup” as I call it really pushes me to be a version of myself I don’t quite like. This version of myself is hard and short tempered. She isn’t slow to anger because dealing with so much pain pushes me to the brink where I feel like my head is going to explode.
Extreme cold is one of the things that helps my headaches and my migraines. I put ice packs on and I have a migraine headband I wear. The dark is my best friend when the pain is bad. Lately, I have been having to push through in the light and honestly that makes it worse. Adulting in the light, having to push through pain, makes me want to sob.
As I write this I have a horrible headache. I’m lucky to be at my house. Weather is a huge migraine trigger and the weather forecast is horrible today. Barometric pressure with weather is a real thing and it’s a big trigger for my migraines. Stress is another big trigger and I am working through that one as well.
These pictures below represent how I feel. Headache and migraine pain is real and infuriating mostly because some people don’t believe you or they act like you can control it. You can try to but it’s dreadful having to adult on migraine days. I feel like a horrid person sometimes when I’m dealing with them. I’m trying to find things they will help. Prayer is the thing that’s helping me the most right now.
