Highland Road Park Observatory Hosts Out-of-this-World International Astronomy Day Event
Spend an evening among the stars as Highland Road Park Observatory (HRPO), 13800 Highland Road, hosts its 11th annual International Astronomy Day celebration on Saturday, April 29th from 3-11 p.m.
The greatest International Astronomy Day (IAD) event in the area returns for its 11th anniversary! HRPO will once again host visitors from the Baton Rouge Amateur Radio Club, the Baton Rouge Gem and Mineral Society, the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, BREC’s Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, the Civil Air Patrol, East Baton Rouge Parish Library and LIGO for a day of “close-to-home yet out-of-this world” fun.

Farr Park Stick Horse Rodeo Rides Back into Town!
BREC’s Farr Park Equestrian Center, 6402 River Road, hosts its annual Stick Horse Rodeo on Saturday, April 8. Event registration begins at 9:00am and competition will be held from 10:00am - Noon.
Children, ages 2-7, are encouraged to saddle-up on their stick horses and compete in a variety of contests. Participants will compete in rodeo events in a miniature rodeo arena on stick horses. The events are: Bronc Riding, Bull Riding, Pole Bending, Barrel Racing and a Flag Race.
Children will be split into two age groups and prizes will be given. Bring your own stick horse or borrow one of ours!
