As much as I’m still holding onto the highchair, Judah is slowly wanting to eat at the table with us more and more. I know I should be excited about the fact that he’s getting bigger and can handle sitting at the table, but the lazy, clean freak inside of me doesn’t want to have to clean and wipe down the table every night. I much prefer rinsing off the highchair tray and calling it a day! No judgement zone, right??
However, I know our highchair days are coming to an end, and in an effort not to ruin my normal placemats, I decided to make him his own. As you already know, I am no seamstress. But give me a design and a laminating machine, and I’m good to go!
So if you’re anything like me, then I hope you enjoy this printable. The file is an 8- x 14-in. design that any local print shop (e.g., Office Depot) can print for you at minimal cost. I also got mine laminated there as well for $1.99 and it has held up great for months! The font I used originally is no longer available, so I made the printable with a standard font on every computer.

Sidenote: I will say that I misjudged just how much Judah was going to love it because the first day I introduced it, he kept taking his bowl and drink off to point and talk about the animals. The next attempt was much better!
And if you want to create your own placemat without the printable, it could be a fun project to do with your kids! You can use scrapbook paper, recycled artwork from your children’s stash, or even printed pictures instead of an actual design.
Happy Clean(er) Eating!
