South Louisiana, specifically Baton Rouge (and surrounding areas) and Lafayette, have been devastated by the recent flooding. In an effort to share the most up to date information for our Red Stick Mom Blog readers, we’ve compiled this list of resources and information to help Louisiana flood victims. We’ll keep it as updated as possible in the coming days – please leave a comment if you know of any drop off or donation opportunities that are missing. Many families in South Louisiana have lost absolutely everything, and the need for help and service will last for a while. Maybe it's late in the afternoon and you haven't been to the grocery in days. Or perhaps you just want to pretend your kitchen is always this clean... "Let's go out for dinner!" you say. To help make it easier for you to plan your next date night, I've put together this list of organizations in the Baton Rouge area that offer Parents' Night Out programs. Baton Rouge David Vincent's Martial Arts - This martial arts studio hosts themed PNOs and pizza parties, such as "Nerf Gun Battles," "Jedi Lightsaber Training," and...
Baton Rouge and traffic go together like peanut butter and jelly. Everyone in the Red Stick is used to "stuck in traffic" as an acceptable excuse for tardiness. So next time you're stuck waiting through the same light for the 5th time, enjoy this post. We know you can relate.
I recently spent a 'First Sunday' checking out the Louisiana Art & Science Museum with our family and some friends. It was the perfect opportunity to experience the museum for the first time since I wasn't sure how much my son would participate (He's only one!). Every 'First Sunday' of the month the Louisiana Art & Science Museum, U.S.S. Kidd, and LSU Museum of Art provide free and reduced price admission to their facilities. We all had a blast that day and it got me thinking of other activities I can take us to experience throughout downtown Baton Rouge. Even if you don't make it on a 'First Sunday', many of the activities are free or reasonably priced -...
