Between blogging and trying to grow two small businesses, I spend a significant amount of time on social media. As a function of that, I participate in a few online communities where participants discuss social media as it relates to business. In our discussions there, as well as in conversations in general, I have sometimes run into a recurring sentiment that I believe it is high time to challenge. That sentiment sounds something like this: “If I see someone advertising their business on social media, I just immediately delete them. Being a working mom can feel isolating. You want to connect with local moms with kids the same age as yours, but it seems that all the moms groups and playdates take place on weekdays somewhere between 9:ooam and 5:00pm. So all the joyous mommy-get-togetherness is occurring when you're working. Not anymore, Baton Rouge moms! Istrouma Baptist Church, which is centrally located in Baton Rouge off I-12 and Airline Highway, is launching MOPS/Momsnext, a special Baton Rouge moms group for all mothers of preschoolers and elementary-aged kids. I’m a mom of a two-year-old. He is great. He is hilarious. He is chatty. I work full-time and have him enrolled in a local daycare/pre-school that I LOVE. And then about two weeks into the school year, I looked in his folder for his artwork and the teacher let me know that all the artwork would be kept in a binder … till the end of the year!  I was initially just slightly annoyed, then I found out that it was because the school went from being independent to being associated with the Department of Education.
