Dear Amber :: We Want Answers, Too
Dear Amber,
Ever since hearing of your husband’s disappearance from downtown Baton Rouge after visiting here on business and attending the LSU Basketball game last week, I have not been able to get this situation out of my mind. Since it happened, you have been on my heart non-stop. {Readers – if you are not up to date on the mysterious disappearance of Nathan Millard (a 42-year-old Georgia resident, father and husband) from downtown Baton Rouge, then you can read about it here.}
As a wife and mom, my heart is breaking for you and your children. This is every spouse’s worst nightmare. Many of us (or our spouses) travel for business, and we all get into the groove of being gone for a set amount of days and then anticipate returning home and going back to having all of our ducks in a row. To see a tragedy like this happen in my hometown is heartbreaking. What is more heartbreaking is that no one is talking about it. Y’all, a father disappeared off the streets of Baton Rouge after an LSU basketball game and casual drinks! That is terrifying.
Amber, we want you to know that we want answers, too. What happened to Nathan? This is not normal, and this is certainly not the downtown Baton Rouge that we know. There has to be someone that knows something or – at the very least – saw something. Please speak up and give this family any information you have.
There are many of us that have friends and family that stay in downtown Baton Rouge regularly. Many of us who live here in Baton Rouge bring our kids to various LSU events regularly. LSU athletics is always fun and family-friendly; from basketball to gymnastics to baseball, LSU sports are a true family event for Baton Rouge residents young and old. Downtown Baton Rouge should be a safe space to bring guests. We should be confident that residents and tourists alike are safe when they are here in Baton Rouge. As our region and city so often does, I hope that Baton Rouge and the surrounding communities come together to help find you answers.
I am so sorry that this is happening to you and your family, Amber.
I am sure you are filled with endless anxiety. My anxiety is not yours, but it is anxiety on your behalf.
We are hoping, praying and searching for Nathan with you. We can feel your pain, and we are holding space for you.
And, we want answers. With you and for you.
Sending you all the love,
A concerned Baton Rouge Mom
