Children’s Hospital New Orleans 

The Children’s Hospital New Orleans specialty clinic is now relocated to a new, expanded multi-specialty clinic, located in the heart of Baton Rouge’s medical district on the campus of Baton Rouge General Medical Center. Rapid Urgent Care is open every day of the year to meet your urgent care needs – even holidays! All locations include X-Ray and Lab services on site. Rapid Urgent Care commonly treats ailments such as the flu and flu-like illnesses. These include colds, sore throats, bronchitis, asthma, and strep throat. They will also treat sprains, minor trauma, and fractures. Their on-site X-Ray facility helps to determine if you have a broken bone or perhaps just a sprained muscle and their lab can provide many tests with immediate results.

Holiday Market at the Mill 2022

November 18-20

The market is a three-day shopping event held at the refurbished Cotton Mill in downtown New Roads.
Shoppers can expect a variety of vendors, craftsmen and artisans selling hand-crafted items, such as pottery, garden items, jewelry, glassware, wooden furniture and Christmas gifts for everyone. You can also find decorative items, live plants, antiques, and many unique, hand-crafted items. We also have clothing for the whole family.

Magnolia Mound’s popular, annual holiday event returns this year. Come visit us for this annual holiday event featuring seasonal decorations in the historic house. We will have traditional songs in French and Spanish sung by local school children, period demonstrations, folk crafts, and booths from local vendors. We’ll close out the event with the annual bonfire to welcome Papa Noel!

Agape’s 4th Annual Family Christmas Market

Get ready to shop! St. Jean Vianney Catholic School will hold its first annual Christmas Market on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 4-8 p.m. in the school gymnasium. This is a great way to get your holiday shopping done in a fun and festive setting!

There will be over 50 booths featuring popular boutiques and artists including Forever Lillies, Texture, Giggles, Messengers Gifts, Tina Lahaye Jewelry and HTG Earrings. The Tipsy Gypsy Traveling Bar will also be on hand selling specialty drinks and wine. The market is open to the public and admission is $10 at the door.

StoryTime in the Garden

November 12, December 3

Join us on Saturday morning to listen to storybook readings and flex your creative muscles! Young children will have a blast interacting with other kids, making arts and crafts, and listening to stories. Little ones also receive a book to take home with them. Every half hour, we switch between stories and crafts to keep young children interested and engaged. Best suited for children ages 3-8, but children of all ages are welcome!  Admission is free. No registration is required.

Running of the Elves 5k

November 19, 7:00am

The race will BEGIN and END at the Central Wildcat Stadium 50-yard line
The Running of the Elves is a competitive AND family-friendly event.
This costume-friendly run takes place through Central City on a crisp fall morning.
We also have 1 mile timed run for ALL KIDS Up to age 10. All the kiddos will get a t-shirt, elf hat and a finisher dog tag. Additional prizes will be awarded to the top overall male and female finisher.
The 1 mile and 5k runs are chip-timed races with timing services provided by Cajun Timing. Winners will be awarded by age group with overall male and female winners.

Baton Rouge Turkey Trot 2022

November 24, 7:30am

Celebrating its 36th year, the Turkey Trot returns to Downtown Baton Rouge on the morning of Thanksgiving 2022. This race is a local thanksgiving tradition – one that serves the community by keeping them active and fit through racing and by partnering with the March of Dimes as a fund-raiser to help their organization both financially and by spreading the word about the work they do.

Celebration in the Oaks in New Orleans

City Park’s largest fundraiser, Celebration in the Oaks, is THE New Orleans holiday family tradition. This incredible light festival has enchanted Park visitors since the 1980s and is vital to the Park’s maintenance, care, and beautification year round. Beginning in 2015, Island View Casino & Resort and The City of Gulfport collaborated to bring a Winter Holiday Festival to the Mississippi Gulf Coast unlike any other holiday show in the State of Mississippi. LARC’s Acadian Village in Lafayette hosts its 23 night Christmas festival fundraiser annually in December to benefit LARC, a local 501c(3) non-profit organization benefiting persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Jingle and mingle at the Ascension Parish Library Gonzales location’s annual caroling! There may even be a special guest for all the good boys and girls.

Bring your family and friends to listen and sing with the crowd of carolers in our festive winter wonderland.

Erin Perdue, choir director at East Ascension High School, will lead us in singing some of the season’s classics.

You’d better not pout or cry – we hear Santa might be making a special trip from the North Pole to make sure his naughty and nice list is correct. Afterward, grab a treat from Sweet Melissa’s Confectionery and warm up with some hot chocolate from Louisiana Lemonade.

Join us on this festive night to make wildlife-friendly ornaments and garlands before we venture out by lantern light to hear about the astronomical winter solstice and the role of trees in seasonal rituals. Louisiana Holiday Pies – Leisure Class at the Louisiana Culinary Institute

Learn how to make Sweet Potato Boudin Pie topped with cane syrup whipped cream and garnished with crumbled bacon, one of the most unique holiday pies found in South Louisiana. Each person will prepare boudin from scratch for the pie. Afterwards you will make Bourbon Chocolate Pecan and Coconut Chess. All pie crust will be made from scratch.
All leisure classes include hands-on instruction from our ACF Certified Chef Instructors, food materials, apron, and recipe booklet.

Ice Skating on the River

December 16 – January 3

The Raising Cane’s River Center will once again magically transform into a “Winter Wonderland” just in time for you to create your holiday memories. Ice Skating on the River is an annual holiday tradition that will kick off on Friday, December 16, 2021. A fun filled holiday event for all ages, Ice Skating on the River will have 75 minute sessions nearly every day from December 16, 2021 until January 3, 2022.

Louisiana Art & Science Museum – A Very Merry Museum

December 17, 10:00am-5:00pm

Celebrate the holidays on December 17th from 10 AM – 5 PM with LASM’s 4th Annual A Very Merry Museum event, sponsored by Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Bottling Company. We will offer hands-on activities, present holiday-themed shows in the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium, and offer photos with Santa in the Bert S. Turner Family Atrium while his Coca-Cola truck makes an appearance outside the museum from 1:30 PM until 4 PM.
The festive day will feature engaging activities, including hands-on ornament making, Sneaux to Geaux science experiments (sponsored by BASF), and a museum-wide scavenger hunt. The first 100 children to arrive will receive stuffed Coca-Cola Polar Bears donated by Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Bottling Company, the event’s sponsor.

BRBT presents Land of the Sweets Nutcracker Tea

The Land of the Sweets Tea is an interactive experience geared toward pre-school and elementary-aged children and their families. At the tea, guests enjoy sweets and finger foods while interacting with characters from BRBT’s holiday favorite, The Nutcracker—A Tale from the Bayou, including Clara and the Nutcracker. Children participate in fun activities (Nutcracker Bingo!), photo opportunities, and dance lessons alongside of their favorite Nutcracker characters. Guests are encouraged to bring their cameras.

Chamber Series Holiday Brass 2022

The glorious St. Joseph Cathedral provides the perfect setting for brass renditions of holiday favorites. This is the only location where you can experience the famous cathedral organ accompanying some of the most beloved traditional carols.

George Bell and Friends: “10TH Annual Evening of Holiday Jazz”

December 2 & 3, 7:30pm

Please join George Bell and Friends as they return to the Manship Theatre for their 10th Annual Evening of Holiday Jazz performance. After two sold-out performances last year, this year’s much anticipated show has finally arrived.

This year George is joined by GB & Friends veterans Herman Jackson, drums; Harry Anderson, bass; Andy Bourgeois, piano and keyboards; Ray Mouton, guitar; Greg Ward, percussion and harmonica; Betsy Braud, sax and flute; Aaron Fletcher, sax; and Hilda Trenise Gautier, harp. In addition, returning by popular demand are, Alaina Richard and James Clinton, vocals; young Miles Sam, guitar; and first-time guest and Baton Rouge native, Zahria Sims, sax.

Lastly, George is especially delighted to have Quiana Lynell, winner of the 2017 Sarah Vaughn International Jazz Vocalist Contest, return this year. Quiana’s emotionally moving performance on “O Holy Night,” accompanied by Trenise Gautier on harp, showcased her classically trained, four octave range, and created one of the most memorable musical moments of the entire evening. We all have memories of growing up listening to these great songs on the radio! Here is your chance to start the holidays off with some of your favorite tunes and hear them LIVE by top-notch performing artists in your community. This is a Manship Theatre Production created in collaboration with Emmy winner composer and Grammy recognized arranger, Mike Esneault.

The Nutcracker – A Tale from the Bayou

Cirque Musica Holiday Wonderland

Cirque Musica: Holiday Wonderland is a must-see holiday event to usher in the magic of the season. Igniting joy and wonder to the River Center Theatre on Tuesday, December 20, “Wonderland” is an all-new musical journey that will transport audiences to a magical land far away for a fun-filled, unforgettable holiday-themed show experience.

Featuring the talented cast of Cirque Musica, spectators will be dazzled by the acrobats, aerialists, hilarious hijinks and holiday cheer. Jenny is originally from Kenner, LA, and considers herself a New Orleans girl at heart. She moved to Pineville in 2004 to attend college where she met her funny and always entertaining husband Brandon. Together they relocated to Baton Rouge almost 10 years ago and married in 2008. They added their joyful daughter Salem to the crew in April 2014, blue-eyed son Declan in July 2015, and baby Liesel in 2019 and now live in Zachary. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication/Journalism from LSU and has previously done some freelance writing. She now works full-time for the State of Louisiana. She and her family enjoy spending time together, making each other laugh and being a part of their church community. She loves wandering around Target, drinking coffee, watching HGTV, having people over and making any kind of craft.

  1. St. Jean Vianney is having a Holiday Market on December 8th. Over 50 vendors $10 at the door. It’s the first annual Holiday Market.
