Mom Friends :: The Real MVP

Mom friendships are weird.

They are hard. They take extra effort to maintain. They are usually built based on life similarities. As life changes, our mom friends change too! I am blessed to have some pretty amazing mom friends and for that I am thankful. These friendships are not friendships that expect great things from me. They are understanding friendships. They know what it’s like in a day of my life and they are there when I need them.

To my mom friends::

Thank you for always lending a listening ear. Thank you for validating my feelings and never letting me feel like I’m alone in the world. Thank you for being the rational voice when I need it, for not always agreeing with me but ALWAYS respectfully disagreeing. Thank you for understanding where I’m at and that I may need to cancel plans at the last minute, and for not making me feel like less of a person (or mom) for that!

You’re the constant in my every day. I can call or vent to you whenever needed, and you never make me feel like a burden. We lead such similar lives that it’s nice to have someone that truly understands my hardships. Someone who truly understands that my day can fall apart at any given moment. Thank you for not expecting too much from me. Thank you for thinking of me and encouraging me regularly. When things get tough in my world, you’re always there to tell me what I need to hear, which are also sometimes the things that I don’t want to hear! I’m so very thankful that I’m able to raise my babies alongside you and your babies.

The hardest part of having mom friends is feeling like there is constant competition (who does it better?) I never feel like that with us and our friendship. We complement each other perfectly. We are able to help each other stay motivated. We are both good at different things and we are able to share our strengths and differences without making the other feel bad. I thank God every day for surrounding me with people like you. For allowing my children to have role models like you. Someone who is friendly, beautiful, funny, blunt, strong, and a kind person who loves with their whole heart!
