Raising Two Different Personalities
I love the joys of having two little ones. I have enjoyed almost every moment of their little lives. Vaccinations and first days are always hard. The same with sickness and accidents.
But having children with two different personalities feels like I’m raising them in completely different ways. Some of these differences have to do with their age. I have a little boy and a toddler. My toddler wants to be a big boy so bad and my little boy wants to be an adult.
My oldest loves words of affirmation. He loves to know you’re proud of him. That makes him feel special and important. He doesn’t discuss his feelings a lot but praise makes him so happy. He’s wasn’t very affectionate until lately. I went years without giving him any kisses because he didn’t want any. I don’t buy him much because he doesn’t want much.
My youngest loves affection. He loves being held and rocked. He’ll talk for hours with his little body in my lap. He likes praise but a hug is what brings glee out of him.
They both view outside play differently.
My oldest wants me to watch him and applaud. He wants my undivided attention and praise. My youngest wants me to play with him and do things with him. We’re past when I used to model what we would play, now they create their own games.
Both of them view animals differently. My oldest would adopt all of the animals and take care of them all. He would be a vegetarian so quickly. He doesn’t want to harm animals at all. My youngest is the opposite. He mentioned eating rabbit yesterday. I’ve never fed him that but he’s curious.
All in all, it’s amazing watching them develop into little different human beings that bring so much joy and love into those around them.
