Surviving (and Thriving!) Christmas Tree Decorating with Littles
Ah, the magic of decorating the Christmas tree with my tiny boys, Jack and Jacob! It’s a holiday tradition that’s equal parts joyful and chaotic. As a seasoned mom, I’ve learned to embrace the madness and make the most of this special time.
Tip #1: Lower Your Expectations (Way Lower)
Forget the Instagram-perfect tree. This is about making memories, not winning a decorating contest. Think: lopsided, glitter-covered, and slightly charred (thanks to enthusiastic ornament-hanging).
Tip #2: Assign Tasks (and Laugh at the Results)
Give your little ones their own decorating duties. Watch as they carefully place ornaments… on the floor, the couch, or their own heads.
Tip #3: Make it a Dance Party
Put on some festive tunes and turn decorating into a dance party! Spinning, twirling, and ornament-swinging are all encouraged.
Tip #4: Enjoy the Imperfections
When the tree’s finished, step back and admire the… um, unique beauty. Remember, it’s the laughter, love, and memories that make this tree truly special.
As I look at our gloriously imperfect tree, I’m reminded that the chaos is worth it. My boys are beaming with pride, and our home is filled with joy and laughter. That’s what Christmas magic is all about!
