My family recently joined Costco. I know, I know. We're a little late jumping on that bandwagon. On a recent shopping trip, both kids were pretty good in the store so we stopped to have a cheap, satisfying pizza dinner before we left. We sat at one of the tables in full view of Costco customers checking out and making their way to the door with their bulk of treasures. Because our city is really just a small town, of the few times we've been in that store, 100% of the visits we've run into someone we know. One of my husband's parent's friends stopped by to say hello. After my husband and I exchanged niceties with her, she then...
Disclosure :: Our team knows all too well how hard it can be to choose the perfect school and pre-K program in South Louisiana. Education certainly is a hot button for discussion these days. This post is sponsored by St. John Primary but it is our hope that it gives you some guidance as you begin your search for a Pre-Kindergarten education program in Baton Rouge that meets your families unique needs.  Pre-K Programs :: 5 Qualities to Prioritize  The St. John Primary principal, Kim Naquin, said, "“I recently saw a quote that said, ‘From tiny seeds, grow mighty trees.’ When I read it, it struck me as something quite profound. Within these students, we plant tiny seeds each day. We plant seeds that...
To the Daddy who forgot his baby in his car ... I'm not here to judge you. I'm not here to bring you down any further than you already are at this point. As a mom, I know how easily it is to forget things. I am a mother, I was born with a maternal instinct and I too know that mistakes can be made. I have found myself too often with a car full of kids, an infant too quiet to be noticed and thought for a split second that I may have left him at home. Just to realize he is in his car seat sleeping so peacefully that I too didn't even realize it. I am also a wife. A...
Ah yes, the child who hates being in the car. I know I am not alone -- many of you have experienced vehicular wrath in the worst form. If you've never had a child who hates being in the car (oh how I envy you), let me just tell you it's pure TORTURE. First of all, you can't reach them to console them. Secondly, you're driving a moving vehicle and have to, ya know, drive. Thirdly, you can't get away from the screams (due to the whole moving vehicle thing). If you have other children in tow, they'll eventually start crying too either due to being awoken by the initial crier or they can't take it anymore or they just want to...
I quit sleep training before I even started and that’s ok. I’m sure, not unlike many new mothers, I was totally unprepared for motherhood. I guess no one can really prepare you for what’s about to happen, but I was particularly not at all prepared for the physical and mental exhaustion. There were many days that I was so sleep deprived I could have fallen asleep standing up. Sleep was so very important to me; I’d give up food before sleep. I was also very honest about my position on bed sharing. My position was simply that there would be no bed sharing. I adore my children but I adore them even more when we all can retreat to our...
