SOS My Baby Won’t Sleep! Our Sleep Coach Experience

I’m four months pregnant with my third baby and my one-year-old daughter WILL.NOT.SLEEP. I’ve tried it all: diffusing essential oils and lavender baths, dark room, sound machine, magic merlin suit, sleep sack. It seems like no matter what I do, she still wakes up every 30-90 minutes ready to play, all night long.

Multiple days of sleepless nights can quite literally drive you insane. Combine the lack of sleep with the pregnancy exhaustion and I feel like a walking zombie. I sleep-trained my son just fine and he’s a great sleeper. But my daughter is a force to be reckoned with and has decided she doesn’t need beauty sleep because she’s already beautiful. I decided to enlist the help of a professional, Danielle Daly with Bedtime Bliss Sleep Consulting. She is a certified sleep consultant in Baton Rouge and has helped hundreds of families get much-needed rest. This is our journey to slumber!!

It started with a fifteen-minute phone consultation to determine if we were a good fit and discuss package options. I chose to move forward with the virtual package. This includes a one-hour phone call to discuss a 21-night sleep plan, four follow-up phone calls, and unlimited email support. Today was my one-hour phone call to go over our plan to get baby girl sleeping. She asked how I felt at the end of the call: nervous and eager. She said these were the most common feelings among parents.

I’m most nervous about doing away with the pacifier and the crying. But I know learning to sleep independently is so important; I also know we can’t keep going the way things have been going. I’m looking forward to implementing the plan and the end goal of uninterrupted nights of 10-12 hours of sleep. Doesn’t that sound glorious? I’ll keep you posted on our journey after night one.
