Happy Valentine's Day friends! We are overwhelmed with lots of warm and fuzzy feelings when we think about YOU, our readers and fellow moms. We wish you a lovely day full of love, hugs, special treats, and maybe even a night off! Many of us will be out on the town, enjoying date nights, and we thought this was the perfect time to share our favorite sweets and treats in Baton Rouge.  This city is fast becoming a foodie-heaven, and we aren't complaining.  Here are some of our top picks for our favorite desserts in this great city! "The life-altering White Chocolate Bread Pudding from Parrain's." - Charlotte "Coffee Call beignets and cafe au lait, because anything that can be both...
This year, February 14  is a big day in our household. We don't typically celebrate Valentine's Day, but this year we already have plans. It's opening day at Alex Box for the 2014 LSU Baseball season. We are season ticket holders and have been for the last three years. We are taking a cue from some friends, who are also season ticket holders, and making opening night a date night. Many other games will be enjoyed by the four of us as a family, but opening night it will just be the two of us and a few thousand other Tiger fans. We have brought our kids to countless football and baseball games, but in my opinion, baseball games are the...
On January 30th, Red Stick Moms Blog and 25 readers had the privilege of touring the locally-owned Alexander's Highland Market alongside registered dietician, Melissa Martin, of Woman's Center for Wellness for our first Mom's Night at the Market.  Alexander's Highland Market offers moms an incredible shopping experience with a focus on providing healthy foods as well as local and specialty items. Our group had the chance to walk through the store slowly, which moms never get to do, learn about shopping for healthy foods in each section, and ask questions along the way.  It was such a fun night for all the moms: learning, enjoying yummy food, meeting other moms, and winning some great prizes! The evening began with the...
We are back this month with another Heart & Home! To view previous posts in this series, click here. I think as moms we all have a deep desire to create a warm and happy home for our families to grow in.  We want the space to be uplifting, beautiful, and remind us of who we are.  Wife, mother-of-four, and artist, Courtney Richard, has done this in every corner of her Baton Rouge home.  Each picture of this home will have you gazing and taking in every detail, amazed at all there is to see. Courtney has an undeniable talent for art and design, but even more heart and passion as a mom.  She is a mom who knows how...
I love a good bargain.  And like most moms, I’m always looking for ways to save money on healthy foods for my family.  One of the most expensive items on my grocery bill is always meat.  Seeing that we’re a very carnivorous family, this is a problem that needs fixing! Enter Zaycon Foods. Zaycon Foods is a Washington based business that provides direct-from-the-farm meat products sold by the case at sales events throughout the country including Baton Rouge.  Sounds like a mouthful, but it’s really quite simple. What do they offer, you ask? You can get everything from chicken to beef to ham. They even occasionally have fresh fruit and milk.   The full product line can be found at www.zayconfoods.com. ...
