Last weekend’s game against LA Tech got a little precarious towards the end. Was anyone else’s superfan in meltdown mode? My husband Matt kept shaking his head and saying “It’s going to be another Troy” in an uncharacteristically high tone of voice. And no, he wasn’t referring to the 2004 movie called “Troy” that starred an overly bronzed and muscular Brad Pitt (which would have certainly been an upgrade to the third quarter). Troy University is an unranked, non-conference school that beat LSU last year in Tiger Stadium, during Homecoming week. It was a total embarrassment and has become a recurring nightmare for many superfans that is only whispered about in trusted circles. Matt was already on edge, because...
Last Saturday is why I love LSU football and college football in general. It’s why I put up with it taking over my fall every year. It’s why, as much as I make fun of my superfan husband, I know that deep down, I’m a superfan too. What a fantastic display of passionate underdogs winning because they wanted it more. My LSU football superfan was at a guys’ weekend in New Orleans, so my sister and I watched the game with my three girls. They rarely pay attention for more than thirty seconds of football at a time but were enraptured with the last five minutes of the game. They could hear the cheering and feel the excitement. My...
Well, my husband, Matt and I survived our first time bringing one of our kids to a game at Tiger Stadium. The day played out similar to the football game. She started off strong and full of LSU spirit while we tailgated but fizzled out by the time we got to the stadium after a long wait for the Golden Band in the 95 degree sun. We were able to revive her with copious amounts of concessions, but it was a rough first half. Our tiny six year old daughter put away a large Mr. Pibb, nachos, dippin’ dots, and a bag of popcorn before the end of the third quarter. I don’t know if it was because we...
Some may cringe at the very thought of reading in general, while others are thrilled at the expectation of getting a new book. My kids are the later. They love to read! I am very thankful that they are on the love for reading path. So going to the library is usually filled with lots of excitement. New books!! You want to know what?! (This is mostly for those who don't visit their local library very often) ... there is so much more than just books. Why we love the library Yes, there are lots of book options. My son pretty much checked out half of the Captain Underpants novels from our local library. This saved us so much money! Why not...
