Cutting The Cord On Cable

It’s almost time for all of our shows to come back, and I don’t know about you but instead of it feeling like a few months of a break, it’s been more like a year. We made the decision about two years ago to cut the cord on our cable, and it’s been more freeing than I had anticipated. We are free to watch our shows whenever, some even live (gasp). And if life gets crazy and we can’t watch as it plays, we slowly catch up and then there’s no gap or break till the new season! Granted all things do come at a price. So here’s a little breakdown of streaming services we’ve tried if you’re considering coming to the dark side.

Hulu:

$7.99/month, $11.99/month for no commercials, or $39.99/month for live tv. The $7.99 option is pretty good with uploading shows the day after they air. And it should be noted, I am one of those people who love reading spoilers before I watch the shows. I need to mentally and emotionally prepare myself for what happens before I actually watch it happen. So for this reason, Hulu is my top choice!

YouTube TV:

$40.00 a month. This is a great option if you want the feel of cable without the price tag, YouTube TV has about 50 channels available!

Sling TV:

$25.00-40.00 a month. Again another great option if you want the feel of cable without the price tag.

While streaming services may be cheaper than cable, you do need to have high speed internet to be able to seamlessly watch your shows.

For all streaming, we have an Apple TV and we are able to download apps for the channels we enjoy watching. Some of these apps come with the downside of having to have a cable subscription to be able to sign in, so that’s something to also take into consideration. We love using Hulu the most because we are able to have previous seasons of shows available to us to binge as well as live tv.

What is your favorite streaming service and why do you like it?

She graduated from Nicholls State University and earned her degree in Mass Communication with a concentration in Public Relations. She has since then has decided to trade that in for a life of a working stay at home mom. She loves all things Jesus, Lush, and Disney!
