First Birthday Fete: Eat, Escape, Enjoy {Mom’s Night Out}

Disclosure: Our First Birthday Fete: Eat, Escape, Enjoy was held at the beautiful Baton Rouge Gallery and our evening wouldn’t have been so amazing without our wonderful community sponsors: Street Breads, Indie Plate, Associates in Pediatric Dentistry, Fresh Kitchen, Avant Tous, Whole Foods, Leroy’s, Sweet Sentiments, Plum and Violet, Mimosa by m.e., Petite Perfections, Jamberry, and Room For Dessert.

Our event on November 12th surely brought the chilly weather right along with it, but that didn’t stop us from having a GREAT time. It actually made for the perfect gathering of 150 beautiful moms in a cozy space to enjoy amazing food, wine and each other’s company. Thank you all so much for making the time (especially for getting a family member or babysitter to take over for a little bit) to come out and celebrate with us! It’s great to know that we are all in this crazy, awesome, and beautiful world of parenting TOGETHER. The greatest part of what we do is connecting local moms through the blog but actually meeting you in person was the icing on the cake!

Thank You To Our Wonderful Host and Sponsor: The Baton Rouge Gallery Center For Contemporary Art

We were so happy to have our event here. The staff at the Baton Rouge Gallery was very welcoming to our team.  The ambiance of the gallery speaks for itself. At every turn, there was beautiful artwork to appreciate and the lighting was just perfect for creating an inviting atmosphere. We also learned a lot about the great resources BREC provides through the gallery, so be sure to check them out.

Food, Wine and All Things Divine! : Thank You To Our Food and Beverage Sponsors

Having all of this amazing food and wine under one roof seemed like a DREAM! It was just what we needed to warm us up and enjoy great conversations. Against the backdrop of the lovely music by Joel and Amy Willson, moms made their way around to grab a glass of wine, water or sweet tea. At every turn, our moms were so pleased to encounter the most delicious food brought to us by some of the most unique culinary artisans of Baton Rouge.

2014-11-16_0072Street Breads impressed us with all things homemade- delicious gumbo, an assortment of Panini Pressed Cocktail Bites, Spring-Mix Salad, Pita Bites with Hummus, and the most famous Mamma’s Louisiana Bread Pudding that everyone was cheering for! They also graciously provided Copa Cabana Cabernet Sauvignon and Graystone Chardonnay for moms to sip on.

2014-11-16_0057Indie Plate took us to another place with their Pork Tacos cooked in Jay Ducote’s sauce with all the necessary toppings. In addition, they created an amazing Rum-Infused Chocolate Mousse that could knock your socks off!

2014-11-16_0021Fresh Kitchen served up a stellar 3-bean and Sweet Potato based Veggie Chili that literally hit the spot. They also provided one of their most popular dishes that could convert anyone: Turkey Meatloaf, Sautéed Green Beans and Roasted Sweet Potatoes.

2014-11-16_0041Leroy’s Kitchen brought the soul by providing their delicious Roast Beef and Homemade Gravy over Cheddar Grits. They also provided some refreshingly delicious Sweet Tea.

Thanks To Our Sponsors That Hit The Sweet Spot

We certainly could not celebrate a birthday without a FABULOUS Birthday Cake. The talented Sweet Sentiments Bakeshop created this three-tier, dazzling cake for us. It was beautifully done down to the smallest details of the embellishments on each tier. The wedding cake flavor perfectly hit the spot.

Our indulgence for sweets did not stop there. Room for Dessert showcased a variety their organic, gluten-free, vegan and sugar-free desserts. There was an assortment of mini-pecan pies, macaroons, mini-cupcakes and truffles. Who knew something so healthy could taste SO amazing? We highly recommend you check them out!

Petite Perfections brought the most amazing customized cookies for our moms! They meticulously hand-decorated Thanksgiving themed cookies that included Turkeys and Cornucopias. Can we say TALENTED? It was also such a treat for each mom to have a Red Stick Moms Blog logo cookie to take home. There were also samplings of each of the flavors that are offered when creating your perfect cookie order.

Whole Foods outdid themselves when they topped our desserts off with an assortment of the most delicious Brownies, Fruit Tarts and Canollis. The list of desserts that we had left nothing to be desired…except maybe for the next day when we were still dreaming about it all!

Thank You To Our Entertainment

We were graced with the wonderful musical talent of Joel and Amy Willson. They provided low-key music with their instruments and their song selections were the perfect backdrop for a relaxing evening. We were also so excited to find out they give private music lessons through Baton Rouge Music Lessons in violin, flute, guitar, piano, and mandolin.

Thank You To Our Table Sponsors

Avant Tous Beauty Bar and Spa provided the ultimate relaxation by doing mini-neck massages for our moms. Our moms had a moment in time to forget it ALL…and escape to place of serenity. These ladies ROCKED!

AIPD came ready with bottled water and koozies, free samples and information to answer any and all questions related to Pediatric Dentistry.

Mimosa by m.e. beautifully arranged her uniquely handmade rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings…all made with love!

Plum and Violet featured beautiful items for little girls such as necklaces, bibs, onesies, teething beads for mommas, chalkboard mats and she even featured sale items that were too cute for words!

Jamberry rep Amie Magee had an amazing spread of DIY nail wraps in various styles and let moms test them out! The moms had so much fun getting their nails done!

Ericka P.
Ericka is originally a New Orleans gal who was raised to begin many dishes with a roux. Since 2011, she has happily embraced the Red Stick life with her husband of seven years, Tyler. Although she met her husband at an LSU game after her car broke down, they both attended Northwestern State University where she graduated with a Business Administration degree. After graduation, she and Tyler took a leap of faith and tied the knot. She dabbled in the corporate scene but eventually returned to school to pursue her passion for teaching and earned a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. She taught at an inner-city school in Baton Rouge for 3 years where she gained a family of students and colleagues alike. She’s traded in her beloved Expo pens and clipboard to stay home with her sweet and adventurous one-year-old son, Cullen. She is so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the sisterhood of fellow moms. Motherhood has been the best roller coaster she’s ever been on and even at the most challenging times, she tries to remember to embrace the chaos and “bless this mess” mentality. Ericka loves a good conversation, coffee, empowering other women {because we can all use a little encouragement}, laughing, baking and making memories with her family.
