Galentine’s Day Is For the Girls :: Fun Ideas to Celebrate Your Girl Group

For those of you who don’t know, Galentine’s Day (created by Leslie Knope, herself) is the day before Valentine’s Day that is dedicated to the ladies. It’s basically the ultimate chick day where you grab your besties and have the best day ever! Why? Because we’re awesome! Who doesn’t love a good “girl’s night” anyways?

Here are some ideas to grab the gals and have some fun:

Spa Night

For any ladies who need some rest and relaxation in your life, Bumble Lane is a great choice. Book a massage or a facial and wind down in a soothing and calm environment. Even a simple mani/pedi at your favorite salon would do the trick.

Dinner or Happy Hour

For a more traditional approach, a simple dinner or happy hour is perfect to catch up and have great conversation with great company. Soji, Rock-n-Sake, Superior Grill, BLDG 5, Tsunami are some great places to wine and dine. Maybe you just want order desserts for the table to share!

Movie Tavern

For my fellow introverts, Movie Tavern has your name written all over it. What better way to recline that chair, order a cocktail and dessert, and watch a good movie in a comfortable setting. Heck, you can even wear your yoga pants!

Escape Room

If your friends love a good challenge, then an escape room is where you need to be! 13th Gate Escape and Sequestered are two great options in Baton Rouge.

Goat Yoga

Friends of the animals, Old Rusty Gate Farm in Livingston is doing a Goat Yoga session the day AFTER Valentine’s Day. Technically this isn’t on Galentine’s Day, but it would still be a super fun and unique event to experience with your friends.

Host a Galentine’s Day Party

If leaving the house sounds dreadful to you and you love to host parties, then have a Galentine’s Day Party of your own. Here’s an article from Red Stick Mom that has some great ideas on how to celebrate your lady friends.

Painting With a Twist

Calling all artists … and even the not-so-artistically inclined. How fun to paint and drink wine with friends? You don’t have to be Picasso to paint your masterpiece. Painting With a Twist has a “Galentine’s XOXO” option that is adorable and fun! Check the website to make sure it’s not booked up. You could even throw your own “Painting with a Twist” party at your house – bring your own canvas. And don’t forget the wine!

L’auberge Casino

Do you like to gamble? Maybe it’ll be your lucky night. If you’re into nightlife, GeauxDJ will get the party started at 9pm. I also hear the buffet is amazing!

Coffee Call

If you want a low key, inexpensive night, meet up at Coffee Call. What’s better than beignets, coffee, and your girl group? Just don’t wear black.

Manship Theater

If you have an appreciation for literature and theater, then grab the gals and head to Manship Theater downtown to enjoy a performance of George Orwell’s 1984- a dystopian novel about the dangers of totalitarianism, warns against a world governed by propaganda, surveillance, and censorship. Use code “DBA” to get tickets for $15.

The English Tea Room

This quaint little tea room is located in Covington, LA, but it is well worth the drive. They will serve delicious Valentine’s High Tea complete with a gift of a long stem rose to take home as a romantic remembrance. The cost will include assorted finger sandwiches, hot and cold appetizers, freshly  baked warm scones with lemon curd and clotted cream and raspberry jam, imported Valentine’s chocolates, dessert macaroons and chocolate dipped strawberries. $40 for adults and $20 for children 12 and younger. Call to reserve your table! 985-898-3988

Treat Yo Self

Perhaps you want to buy yourself something because you know your significant other will fail at reaching your expectations for Valentine’s Day. Have your friends stroll on over to your favorite boutique or store to “treat yo self,” because my gosh, you deserve it! Mimosa and Kendra Scott are two great options to splurge on that piece of jewelry you’ve been wanting.

Counterspace

Love to bake? Counterspace in Baton Rouge is hosting their 2nd Annual Galentine’s Day event full of cookie decorating, flower arranging, and eating and drinking with your best gal pals. The event takes place on February 12th and tickets are $40 a person. Visit their Facebook page for more information.

LASM Plantetarium

If you just want to “space out,” the planetarium at the Louisiana Arts and Science Museum will have two viewings of “Romance in the Stars.” The event is free for members and $12 for nonmembers. They will also have dessert, wine, and the museum’s art galleries full of beautiful art on display.

Downtown BR Pub Crawl

“We’re celebrating Galentine’s Day in downtown Baton Rouge on February 13th, so leave the men at home and come out to celebrate each other!” The following bars will participate in the pub crawl with drink specials:

Jolie Pearl Oyster Bar- $5 Grapefruit Margaritas, $3 Truly
