I Love Our Ordinary

Lately, I have been reflecting on how thankful I am for our everyday life. To some, you may think we lack adventure – there has never been a post on my social media about a family hiking trip or a get up and go random trip. This may be coming off of the passing holidays and all the lists of the “Top 10 things to do with your family over Christmas” or “2019 Things we MUST DO.” For me, though, I love our ordinary.

Our life is fun, fulfilling and ordinary. We enjoy our time with each other playing games, eating around the table, or watching a good show on TV. I recently asked my 13 year old son what his favorite thing we do as a family is, and his answer was movie and popcorn night. This child has gone on endless vacations, friend gatherings, parties, etc. over the years, yet his answer is simply “movie and popcorn.”

For me, this showed me that I am not alone. Our nights catching up on our favorite TV show or playing a board game with our kids are what our family is about. Don’t get me wrong; I love to go on an adventure every now and then, but also, sometimes we just need to be.

For me, I want to spend 2019 focused on my family. Not what to do with them or where to go but THEM. I want to unplug from reality and just spend time vegging out on the couch and relaxing next to the people I love the very most.

As we start a new year, let us remember the experiences are fun, but at the end of the day, our kids just want to spend time with us, even if that looks like us staying home for an entire weekend.

Tiffany is happily married to her high school sweetheart, Desmond. Together they get to play the roles of Mommy and Daddy to Micah, a gifted Math Wiz of a teenager who is always making people laugh, and Keilyn, a spunky, flower loving, dancing girl who will stop and talk to anyone she meets. She was born and raised in Baton Rouge and has Cajun blood running through her veins. She works full time outside of the home in business administration. She started the journey of motherhood young but wouldn’t have it any other way. Her children have taught her to laugh, play and that sometimes it’s ok not to have a plan! She has a passion for teenagers and is an active mentor in her church’s youth group. In her rare free time she enjoys shopping, coffee, and date nights with her husband. She believes that everyone has a story to tell and enjoys meeting new people, making people laugh, and spending time with friends and family.
