Some Pooch & Kid-friendly Spots In Baton Rouge
My family and I just adopted a German Shepard. He, like my three human kiddos, are wild and adventurous too!
I have not owned a dog since I was a little girl, so I am new to the fact there are dog-friendly and actual spots that encourage pet owners to bring their pooch!
I needed to find spots for not only my three boys to hang out at but with our newest four-legged member of our family too.
- The Smiling Dog – We can easily bring our boys and our dog outside on the patio! Not only does this restaurant have a kids’ menu and a dog menu, but it also has great beers on tap for the adults! All around, this is a fun restaurant for the whole family to enjoy. I had to include this one by itself, being it is my favorite!
- Speaking of The Smiling Dog, here is a great list with other dog-friendly and kiddo-friendly restaurants / shops!
- BREC has several parks around the area that has playgrounds and dog parks next to each other. My favorite is the Raising Cane’s Dog Park in City Park. One person can keep an eye on the pup while he runs in the dog park while another parent plays with the kiddos at the park nearby! Bring food to make your own picnic, as well! The Highland Road park includes Splash Pads for this hot summer
- The LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens has gardens, woodlands, wetlands and arboreta. Families can enjoy walking paths through the Burden Woods. The Rose Garden, Children’s Garden and All-America Selections Garden showcase are kiddo-friendly and exciting for the littles! From five specialty gardens, multiple walking trails and a boardwalk over the Black Swamp, dogs and kids will love this place.
- Perkins Rowe has many shops, restaurants, and entertainment options that the whole family can enjoy. Well behaved, leashed pets are allowed in the common areas, in some of the shops and at the outdoor seating areas of some of the restaurants.
