What if We All Just Radically Loved Ourselves?

On my way home from dropping my 11-year-old daughter off for her first day of school, I had the radio on WITH commercials, which is rare these days since I am more of a podcast girl. During my twenty minute drive home, I heard three different “improvement” commercials. One for Botox, one for body sculpting, and another for the newest pill that can help you lose those “stubborn 20 pounds.”

Maybe this is fueled by having a preteen girl who I want to love herself and know her body is perfect just the way she is. Maybe it is from being raised in the 90s and early 2000s with low-rise jeans and women around me searching for the latest way to lose a few pounds. One thing I KNOW would greatly change our world … what if all of us worked on LOVING ourselves radically?

What if we looked in the mirror every morning and said “I am beautiful. I am loveable. I am kind.”

What if we loved ourselves so much that we bought a new shirt and strutted our stuff KNOWING we feel good & look good?

There are a few things I can promise you, Mama. I promise you are the best Mama for your babies. I promise that your babies love exactly who you are. You are enough. You are perfect just as you are. I promise radical self-love will change your life … you just have to take a chance on yourself.

Let’s try it together. Take some time and radically love ourselves. For me that looks like buying clothes that fit and that I feel good in, spending time with my girlfriends who love me for me, and taking my daughter to buy her first big girl purse.

As I continue to learn and grow as a human, I have learned more and more that so much of our physical appearance is based on genetics. I sure do love my mama and loved my grandmothers. For me, loving myself is a way of loving the strong women who raised me.
