What You Need to Know About Digital Planners

Paper planners … the one thing I always plan to keep up with as my New Year Resolution but somehow never make it past March. I just love the whole experience of finding the perfect paper planner, but 2 years ago I realized I needed to face the music and maybe paper planners just weren’t my thing. I found myself always forgetting it at home when I really needed it or having it on the other side of the house when I need it at my desk. By the time I got back to my planner, I had already added it to a note or reminder on my phone but doing that made me feel less organized. Enter digital planners.

What are Digital Planners?

A digital planner is an electronic planner that you can download on a tablet and use a tablet-friendly pencil. I use my IPad and Apple Pencil! Most digital planners are also compatible with your phone so you’ll always have your planner with you wherever you are.

What kind of digital planners are there?

There are so many: faith-based, meal planning, dated, not dated, to-do lists, job focused, etc. Personally, my favorites are the ones that aren’t dated because I can reuse them each year. You can even get a base digital planner and add on extras (meal planning, school schedule, exercises, etc.)

Honestly … if you can dream it, you can find it! And if you can’t find it, there’s definitely someone who would create it for you!

How do you use them?

You typically will download a file and will use it on a note taking app. I swear by Goodnotes. It’s essentially a “binder” where you can have different notebooks and folders so everything can stay as organized as you’d like! I have a notebook called “Life at a Glance” and keep my planner there!

Once you have your digital planner picked out, you’ll download the file and upload it to the note-taking app. You are able to edit as many features as the creator allows and fill them in with your plans!

How do you choose one and where do you find them?

Choosing one is the most difficult thing you will come across. There are so many on Etsy that you may become overwhelmed. I would sit down and write down your must-haves for the perfect planner. That way, when you start going through all of the listings you can narrow it down much faster!

Clearly, I love digital planners for so many reasons, but my number one has to be the customizable aspect! My favorite digital planners, hands down, are the ones created by @creatingwithlucy on Instagram; you can find her shop HERE. She has so many beautiful options including a step-by-step tutorial on getting started!

If you’re curious here is one of her customizable digital planner videos!

Whether you love a paper planner or a digital one, I hope yours and mine will be filled with fun things to do, trips to take, and people to see this year!!

Michelle, and her wonderful husband Michael, moved to Baton Rouge from Houma, 3 years ago to help launch Anchor Chapel. Though it's been 3 years, there's a 99.9% chance she'll still get lost unless she uses the GPS on her phone. They are the parents to a spunky, Disney loving 2-year-old named Maverick. She graduated from Nicholls State University and earned her degree in Mass Communication with a concentration in Public Relations. She has since then has decided to trade that in for a life of a working stay at home mom. She loves all things Jesus, Lush, and Disney!
