Disclosure :: This post is sponsored by Party Time of Baton Rouge.  Party Time | Our Five-ish Favorite Costumes of 2020 Halloween is BY FAR our favorite time of the year. When everyone else is stopping to get their Pumpkin Spice fix, we are stopping anywhere and everywhere we can to get ourselves a spooky dose of what October has to offer. A few weeks ago, we made a stop into Party Time at Bluebonnet and Airline. A quick trip to roam the aisles, get a look at what they had to offer in the costume department and try to get a jumpstart on narrowing down costumes for five boys. Which can be a HUGE win or fail depending on where we...
At Red Stick Mom, we are on a journey to continuously learn about the importance of supporting our neighbors in marginalized communities where disparity is far too prevalent, specifically in the black community. We’ve been happy to share in supporting various black-owned local businesses and are having conversations with our kids about race. We want to continue to show support which is why are highlighting local organizations who are working diligently to serve our neighbors of color in the Greater Baton Rouge area. Our hope is to raise awareness about the great work they are already doing and share it with others. We are excited to put the spotlight on an amazing non-profit organization called Tankproof. How did Tankproof start? "We're the Thomas...
DEFINITION: a Nonprofit organization is a business that has been granted tax-exempt status by the IRS because it furthers a social cause and provides a public benefit. I am going to highlight a few 501C3 organizations below. I have chosen 5 very different nonprofits that are focused here in Baton Rouge and range from rehabilitation...
Dear Retailers: When a frantic mom runs in with a child in hand, we are absolutely not being rude.  We are sorry that you “normally don’t let people use the restroom without a purchase.”  In fact, if you will just excuse us to use your restroom we would be happy to make a purchase afterward.  You see, really it’s up to you.  Either we make that mad dash to your totally off-limits lavatory OR you get to mop.  No mom wants to stop and run into a strange place and HOPE the facilities are clean and that they have enough time to line the toilet.  This is not exactly a trip to Nordstrom’s Rack. This is an EMERGENCY! So, thank you...
At Red Stick Mom, we are on a journey to continuously learn about the importance of dismantling systematic racism and white privilege as a community. We’ve been happy to share in supporting various black-owned local businesses and are having conversations with our kids about race. We want to continue to show support which is why we are starting a new monthly blog series to highlight local organizations who are working diligently to serve our neighbors of color in the Greater Baton Rouge area. Our hope is to raise awareness about the great work they are already doing and share it with others. How Front Yard Bikes Began While he was a student at LSU, Dustin Lafont was constantly working on bicycles on the...
