Baton Rouge marriage help

Being a great mother isn’t just about putting the kids first. It is also about pursuing your career if desired, finding free time for pursuing your own hobbies (even if that’s a workout corner at home) and fostering an environment where everyone is comfortable. Of course, it can admittedly be challenging to find time for marriage amidst motherhood, but at Red Stick Mom we aren’t afraid to discuss healthy relationships, divorce, dating and even your sex life. Whether your children were conceived naturally, became a part of your family through adoption or were welcomed after miraculous IVF, it can be hard to stay patient with the kids and our partners at the same time.

At Red Stick Mom, our team of 25+ local Baton Rouge mom writers have a ton to discuss with regards to marriage and relationships, as we all know that good relationships take intention, hard work and many times a healthy dose of therapy.

Keeping your marriage and relationships healthy and fun can be extremely hard, but at Red Stick Mom, we also believe that it is 100% possible with a little bit of effort and a great (and honest) mom community around you. Whether it’s a fun night hanging out at home, or getting out of the house to enjoy one of the best restaurants in Baton Rouge, we understand that sometimes you just need a nudge to enjoy time with your partner.

We’ve got ideas on how to keep a strong circle of friends and family, whether it’s ways to bring new people into your life or how to keep toxic people out of your life. We’ve also got thoughts on how to find time for marriage and relationships while maintaining a tough schedule

The women at Red Stick Mom are Baton Rouge moms who understand the pressure of raising kids while also trying to make marriage work! They are willing to share everything from the book that will change your sex life, to what it’s like to raise kids as a single mom, to navigating grief amidst your marriage and motherhood.

It’s finally Bama week! My superfan husband, Matt and I were at the Mississippi State game two weeks ago. There was so much excitement and noise, and all I could think about was how much fun the Alabama game is going to be. We could only fit in three home games this year, and I had to fight for the Bama game. Matt was convinced that the Georgia game was the way to go, but I’m an old school LSU fan. My animosity towards Alabama goes back decades. I grew up in a family that would sing “Bama, Bama. Bama won’t you bite my (ah, you know the rest)!” regardless of the team LSU was playing. No matter how...
When my husband and I started dating it was so exciting how different yet similar we were. He recharges by reading books, exploring, and drinking coffee, and I recharge by going out with him, with friends, or with family for a fun dinner or another get together. But our similarities come from our core values. The same things are important to us, and we have the same belief systems. While we have similar points of view on almost all our beliefs, our personalities balance each other out. He is an introvert, I'm and extrovert, and we have learned how to help each other have what we need to both recharge in our own ways. What was remarkable was when we...
Wow! What a game! I had to run errands in the early afternoon, so color me surprised when I walked in the house to find LSU ahead at the start of the second quarter. My superfan husband, Matt began talking fast with a high-pitched voice and attempting to carry an impossible number of grocery bags into the house during the commercial break. I “offered” to help, but I was having too much fun watching him try to bring in three pumpkins, an insulated freezer tote, and a dozen eggs at one time to actually follow through. The majority of the second quarter consisted of me unloading groceries while my kids asked me no less than 100 times when we...
So, there it is. LSU’s football team lost their first game of the season. My husband, Matt and I came home from a weekend away last week to find ourselves knee-deep in viruses, ear infections / busted eardrum, and planning a birthday weekend for twins. There was no way I could find time to write about the Florida game, and then we lost. I am so entrenched in LSU superstition and mom guilt that I can’t help but blame myself for last week’s loss. I know I sound ridiculous, but I’ve been indoctrinated.   Speaking of mom guilt, I did to my kids what I swore I would never do. We invited everyone over to watch the Florida game for...
Last Saturday is why I love LSU football and college football in general. It’s why I put up with it taking over my fall every year. It’s why, as much as I make fun of my superfan husband, I know that deep down, I’m a superfan too. What a fantastic display of passionate underdogs winning because they wanted it more. My LSU football superfan was at a guys’ weekend in New Orleans, so my sister and I watched the game with my three girls. They rarely pay attention for more than thirty seconds of football at a time but were enraptured with the last five minutes of the game. They could hear the cheering and feel the excitement. My...
