New Year, New Mom

Ahhhh the new year!  Theres so much to look forward to...a whole brand spankin' new year to make yours.  Most look forward to the fresh start January 1st brings in, and I'll go ahead and put it out there, who doesn't?!?!  The thought of a fresh start, getting healthy, spending less can be quite exciting for anyone!  While I too love starting off my new year eating cleaner and getting in a few more walks around the block, there's quite a bit more I look forward to as my family rings in the new year. I find that my goals for any new year are heavily influenced by the three or four months preceding January 1st.  Every year, September all...
The holiday season is officially among us. And with it comes lots of traveling.  This week, we'll be featuring posts all about making traveling with our kiddos safe and bearable, maybe even fun! I know that we have all been there: you get in the car, back out of the driveway, and immediately your kids start fighting, or whining, or screaming for something that dropped on the floor.  For my kids, it's that they always want to watch a movie.  And I'm all for the convenience that comes with DVD players in vehicles, but I really try to use that for long-distance driving only.  In my opinion, my kids watch enough TV as it is.  Furthermore, when I was a...
Every mom knows that mornings + kids = organized (sometimes) chaos. Today, several of our contributors give you a peek into their morning routines. Kristen: I am not good at mornings. At the getting out of bed part that is. I usually have to be forced by either my husband or my son. And while our mornings are never really the same, we have found something of a routine. Our alarm goes off at 5, but we snooze until 5:30—unless our other alarm has gone off and is crying (which is usually between 5 and 6 am).  I get out of bed, put on my robe, and head to Sam’s room.  My husband gets up, feeds the dog and cats, and takes a shower....
My last two posts have given you lots of info about how to coupon.  But it’s all just theory unless you can put it into practice. So, here is a closer look into what it really means to roll your rewards at a drugstore. Each Saturday, I check out my favorite couponing sites to see the matchups for the week.  The site will have an overview of the deals at each store as well as info on where to find coupons that can be stacked with each item. I write out a detailed list of which deals I plan to purchase and the corresponding coupons so that I know exactly which items to look for and what my total will...
The stockpile.  A couponer's badge of honor.  Now, I get it.  You just want to save some money, not start a convenience store in your spare bedroom. I felt the same way.  And for the most part, I still do. But it's nice to know that when we run out of toothpaste, I can grab a tube that was free instead of having to run to the store and pay $4 for it. My stockpile is small, but it's perfect for our family of 3.   Couponing is all about buying when the price is right so that you don't have to pay more when you need the items.  My husband may disagree, but I try to be selective so that...
