Shower Thoughts: 5 Minutes in a Mom’s Head

Most women can relate that a shower is much more than getting the Goldifsh crumbs and spit up out of their hair. It’s 5 minutes of alone time.

Yes, there might be a kid with their fingertips under the door screaming “mommy,” but at least the sound of the running water is soothing. And while the hot water might be relaxing, our brains are usually going a mile a minute. A mom’s 5 minutes of alone time becomes their mental to-do list.

As an experiment, I attempted to record my train of thoughts from my shower this morning. So here we go, welcome to inside the brain of a mom.

May you enjoy my 5-minute shower thoughts.

Ugh, this shower needs to be cleaned.

Actually, I need to clean the entire house tomorrow.

I think I need more Scrubbing Bubbles.

I’ll have to go to the store to get that.

Maybe I can go during nap time?

That reminds me, I need to wash August’s lovie before he naps.

And Norah’s school clothes.

And her dance clothes.

I wonder if I can squeeze a workout in while she is at dance this week?

I’ll have to do a crock pot meal that night.

What’s a meal that everyone has liked recently?

The twins really liked that slow cooker meal Wednesday.

Shoot, I need to get those vitamins for the twins.

The doctor told me to get them like weeks ago.

I feel like I’m forgetting something about the doctor …

Doctor … doctor … doctor …

Oh no! I forgot to schedule Millie’s tubes follow-up.

That’s what I was forgetting.

I need to look at the calendar and do that.

I really can’t take off again though.

Work is crazy right now.

I hope I’m not taking that stress out on my kids.

Or my husband.

I miss him.

I need to ask his mom to watch the kids so we can do a date night.

Do we have any gift cards to save money?

Ahhhhh, I need to remember to write a check for Norah’s Tumble Time class on Monday.

And she starts with a new teacher on Monday … I wonder how she will do?

I need to look at where her new room is for Monday.

Oh! Don’t forget to bring wipes and diapers for the twins too …

I need to add that to the grocery list.

And Stefan said he needed something. What was it?

Oh yea, Cliff Bars and Protein powder.

I seriously can’t believe he works out every morning.

I need to do that.

I’m so tired though.

Did I wash my hair?

I really need to clean this shower.

Moms, what’s on your brain?
