The Best Holiday Activities When You’re Not Feeling Your Best

The Best Holiday Activities When You’re Not Feeling Your Best

There’s a bug going around here. So many people we know are sick. So many more are staying in just in case they’re infectious. I’m trying to plan activities in case my littles get sick. (Although last week they planned to both be sick so they could miss school to play. But they forgot I can hear them.)

  1. Sick Karaoke is a memory you’ll want to make. Try to sing Mariah Carey holiday songs with a raspy sick voice.  If your eyes are light sensitive, wear your sunglasses and a towel as a mink stole. Try to dance, if you can.
  2. Make a Christmas art piece as a family. Let everyone work together from the scribbler to the detailer. Afterward, frame the masterpiece.
  3. Grab a flashlight and tell Christmas stories under the cover. If you’re telling a favorite, change the names to your names. You get a memory and a cuddle.
  4. Have a photoshoot!! Instead of getting dressed up in coordinated outfits, perfect hair, and made-up faces, take a real one, just how you are. Just to remember how cute your family is even when sick.
  5. If you’re relegated to one room with your littles, and you guys are regaining strength, it’s time for a pillow fight!!! They’re never not fun.
  6. Go caroling long-distance. Call your friends and family to sing them popular Christmas songs. Extra points if you make up words.
  7. Christmas-themed Scrabble is so much fun! The entire family can play, even 4-year-old Jacob. He may not make the words but he’s excellent in putting down the letters.

The best thing is that no one can judge you. If anyone says anything, just remind them that you’re sick and do those cute little coughs my littles do when they’re pretending to be sick.

Have fun! Enjoy every single day. Merry Christmas!!
