I bought this necklace the December after we had Judah.  It falls right above my heart and seemed like the perfect "push present" (to myself), and I have worn it practically every day since.  And then one day it hit me: Where is my husband’s representation by my heart?  Once I received my “Judah” necklace, I put up my “J” necklace that I wore (which stood for Joel)—and I didn’t think twice about it. I know that is a simple example, but it stopped me in my tracks as I found my faded “J” necklace in the back of a drawer.  I think we, as moms, tend to make our children our life and number one priority—without even realizing.  Date nights...
As a Speech and Language Pathologist, I am writing this series in hopes to address concerns when it comes to your child’s speech and what to expect if you feel like your child might not be reaching their milestones. If you are just joining us, be sure to start with Part 1 right here. In the previous post, I covered the fast-moving ages of 12-24 months.  Your little baby is a toddler now and is learning a TON from the world around them.  This week, we are heading in to the next year: ages 24-36 months.  This is the age where your child goes from incessantly labeling everything in your house to describing actions and making mini sentences. You see their personalities emerge in their language,...

Now, just a few short months from that dream becoming a reality, excited doesn’t even begin to sum it up. I’m admittedly a bit nervous about the long nights and days that are to come, but I have lots of mama friends, so I think I’ll be alright. I have quickly learned that unwanted/negative advice just comes with this big bellied territory. It doesn’t matter how much previous mamas tell you about...

First Sunday Funday

I love affordable outings with my toddler, and my favorite price is free! I never know how long my two year old will be agreeable, so I hate to do anything too pricy. When I read about First Sunday at the Louisiana Arts & Science Museum, I knew it was right up my alley. What’s First Sunday? On the first Sunday of each month, LASM offers free general admission and reduced admission to planetarium shows. The museum has a little something for everyone.  For fans of all things space, there is a planetarium featuring a 60 foot dome screen as well as space science exhibits.  The art fans will be impressed by the changing art exhibitions.  And if history is...
