Ah, cold and flu season. Boo you. The last week has been rough, and it’s been one of those times when reality hits and I think, Oh, wow, I’m responsible for another person, and he needs me whether I’m feeling 100% or not. It started when my baby got sick last weekend. We got to pay a Saturday morning visit to the pediatrician (every mom’s favorite thing to do), where my son was diagnosed with pink eye and a cold. Unfortunately, as we know, there’s not much you can do for a cold except ride it out, but the doctor did prescribe some lovely eye drops for the pinkeye. Having fitness as part of my lifestyle has enriched my life in so many ways. It has allowed me to learn something new about myself in nearly every stage of life. I find that my goals for any new year are heavily influenced by the three or four months preceding January 1st.  Every year, September all...

Here are a couple common questions I get from moms all the time:  “How long is my child contagious?" and "How can I prevent them from getting sick?” The answer isn’t always clear cut, but below are a few guidelines as to when you may need to postpone your holiday play date.  Your child can instead focus on sharing toys and not germs. The Flu Influenza is a common nuisance this time of year. If your child is diagnosed with the flu, he can easily spread it to others....

The pots and pans are clinging, jingle bells are ringing, and the aroma of freshly baked desserts fills the air. Research has shown that each year adults gain 5-8 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, but this does not have to be true for you! Why do...
