Some of my absolute favorite things about fall are the colors, weather change, and introduction to the holidays! Fall is a time when people become cheerful (is it because it’s getting less hot?) and unified around pumpkins and football. People begin thinking of giving and gifting. Football season rolls in and for Baton Rouge, that means Saints and LSU games! Who doesn’t love a good tailgate? Here are some of my favorite things to bring to a tailgate/holiday party: Bacon wrapped dates These are some of my favorites in a pinch. 2-3 ingredients and ready in under 20 minutes. Although best served warm, they are allergy friendly and DELICIOUS! Brownies/cookies My favorite brownies are the gluten-free boxed brownies from Trader Joe’s! My...
I have a few things to say, but I know everyone came here for the recipes. So I’ll do y’all a solid so you don’t have to scroll for years to find the recipes… I’m not sure if it’s because this is the first year where I feel like things are getting back to normal but WHEW, am I the only one that can’t get into the swing of things yet? Between juggling school drop off, daycare drop off, a full-time job, household duties, laundry, and school/daycare pick up … it’s just nonstop. Even typing that makes me exhausted and I know I’m missing SO many things. I haven’t even mentioned after-school activities or feeding the family. Something had to...

One Year After Ida

While living in Shreveport, a hurricane meant a lot of rain to me. The weather could get windy enough to knock over a few trees, but life would go back to normal after a day or two. When we moved to Baton Rouge in 2015, I was unaware of what to expect for hurricane season  I would hear in the news and around the office about a thing called: hurricane preparedness plan. Sandbags and taping or boarding up windows was a very new concept to wrap my mind around. When Hurricane Ida was initially forecast to hit the Gulf Coast, I remembered thinking that it wasn’t going to be that bad. Neighbors reassured me that we lived too far north and...
New Orleans was and will forever be my home. No matter where in the world I may be living, New Orleans will be my home. Some of my closest friends live there. The first house I ever bought was in New Orleans. That’s where I belong. I love New Orleans. On August 13, 2005, the National Hurricane Advisory Center issued the first advisory for the season’s 11th tropical storm. On August 28, Hurricane Katrina reached a Category 5 status. Back in 2005, I was living with my parents and brother in Madison, MS. If you draw a line through the state, we would be near the line. My brother received a full scholarship to a few universities, one being the University of...
I love makeup! I love it so much that I used to blog about it. The ritual of putting it on relaxes me. Putting on a quick face of makeup has pulled me out of many a funk, especially those postpartum blues. But now as a busy mom of two littles, I don’t have time in the morning for a full face of glam. I need quick and easy but also put together. Here are my favorite products for a five-minute busy momma face. Tinted SPF. Girl, don’t skip the sunscreen. Your face in your forties will thank you. I have really sensitive skin and I love the Elta md tinted spf. I apply a pea size amount and...
