Why I Got a Housekeeper

First off, let me say that I feel so “boujee” for having a housekeeper. I usually don’t tell anyone about her. I’m slightly embarrassed that I cannot handle it all. We changed our budget to be able to afford it and I will happily not go out to eat as often to keep her!

I am a momma of four little ones, 6 years old and younger. Life is chaotic, to say the least. I could never keep my head above water. I could not juggle all of the things and I felt like my kids were suffering because of it. They weren’t getting fun time mom, they were getting stressed out, anxious mom.

The housekeeper comes once every other week and comes in like a beautiful flittering fairy and when she leaves the house is just beautiful. Sheets are changed and beds are made. The whole house is cleaned and smells so good and I can breathe so much better when she comes. The best thing the housekeeper does is motivate me to keep things picked up daily and ready for her to clean when she comes. It’s encouraging me to have routines and be more organized with where things go. I also have more time to focus my energy on the NEVER-ENDING laundry of six people! My kids don’t suffer from my never-ending to-do list. It took me a long time to let go of the control, it was hard, very hard! But now that it’s done, it’s literally one of the best decisions I’ve made!

If you are living with stress and anxiety, I urge you to find the root cause and let go of control and ask for help. We don’t have to do it all, it takes a village!

Born and raised in Baton Rouge, currently living in Central, LA with my family. I am married to my husband of 7 years, Alva. We have four children, Jakoby (6), twins-Kirby and Camp (4), and Ella Ray (1). I am a Pediatric RN, BSN turned stay at home mom. I am an extreme extrovert that loves spending time with my hubby, kiddos, camping, mani/pedis, crafts, sushi, watching baseball and pretty much anything that gives me a good excuse to have a margarita!
