Y’all. The most famous question for newly married couples. I find myself guilty of asking this myself then immediately putting my foot in my mouth. But only after my personal experience with a miscarriage. I found it so interesting that a blogger I follow recently did an Instagram poll asking “is it appropriate to ask couples when they are having kids?” Of course, young me before ever carrying a child, losing a child, and trying for more children would have totally said “YES! Of course, it’s okay to ask. What’s MORE exciting than new life?!” But as I answered no, I was astounded at the number of people saying yes. How dare they think it is okay to ask women about their...

I’m one of those moms that likes to maintain a tidy house. By no means am I saying it looks like a model home that no one lives in, but I do like to keep it neat. This means throughout the day I’m picking up the toys that have gotten scattered about and placing them in their storage baskets. I make our beds, don’t leave the sink full of dishes, run the swifter if I have time. I love clean floors and counters and I wish I could have this whole place professionally organized. But my house isn’t perfect. My laundry basket overfloweth. If there’s something that’s got to give between playing with my kids, working a few hours each...
Monday morning ... here you are again. Most Monday mornings I am ready to greet the week feeling rested and accomplished now that my meal prepping is done and the laundry isn't just washed but folded. This week however, I did none of that. This particular weekend involved lots of whining kiddos and another failed attempt at potty training. My family fun attempt at the Highland Park splash pad was chaotic and involved too many sunscreen applications for a 30 minute outing at most. And WHY? WHY IS IT SO HOT? On this particular Monday, I hit the snooze button far too many times. I had to dig 4 kids clothes out of the massive pile of unfolded laundry and send...
Confession – I really LOATHE the beach. I know I’m supposed to enjoy the day with a drink in my hand and sand between my toes but we all know a beach day with children is work. Pre-kids spending a day at the beach was more like a relaxing spa day with the salty wind in my face and a good book. Back then all I needed was a towel, chair, and a cooler full of snacks and ice-cold drinks. Now that I have three children, the amount of things required for a day at the beach has doubled. Beach towels, snacks, water, sunblock, sand toys, extra clothes, hats, and an umbrella. The whole thing is a production. For my fellow beach...
