Lol A few months back, I started following a couple of local rescues on Facebook. As I watched them rescue animal after animal from kill shelters or off the side of the road, my heart knew that fostering was something that I was interested in. Initially, I thought "when my kids are grown and out of the house, I will spend my time loving on dogs!" Then I talked to my spouse about it and we both went "why not now?" From there, I applied to be a foster with a local organization. I chose a smaller shelter that is run by two volunteers who work full times jobs and love animals. We started with one puppy who was with...
Juneteenth :: An American Celebration July 4, 1776 is a date we all know and celebrate as Independence Day. That day our country became and the proverbial noose released from the mother country. Unfortunately, independence did not extend to our newly born country’s inhabitants. For Americans of African descent, Juneteenth (June 19, 1865) commemorates a historical change for us. Of all the ethnic groups, Black Americans are the only culture fully cultivated in...

How could my mom not want to engage 24/7 in the imaginative play that my sister, my friends, and I delighted in and couldn’t get enough of? But now? I get it. I absolutely adore overhearing my five, seven, and even two-year old use their imaginations for pretend play. My five-year-old has especially dramatic voices she uses for her dolls and my seven-year-old can set...
Before I had children, I would have described myself as a book worm. Now my reading consists of stories about princesses, llama mommas, and curious little monkeys. Reading always came easy to me. Picking up a book and getting lost in the words was a comfort. Since having children, I’ve tried to make it my goal to get back to reading books for myself. But honestly, after a long day at work, cooking dinner, cleaning up the kitchen, and getting the kids into bed I’m exhausted and reading feels like a chore. Introducing the Libby App While scrolling through social media, I saw a friend’s Facebook story about all the books she has already listened to this year utilizing the free Libby app....
