That said, not all of Red Stick Mom’s mom hacks, tips and tricks are about fixing food or mom’s self care. Maybe you are looking for a better way to store your family’s precious photo memories. Have you ever wondered what to do with the cupcakes that your kids inevitably didn’t finish? Did you recently discover that your little one wants to take pictures with a live unicorn and now it’s your job to make dreams come true? Participating in a unicorn photography session will give your little one the chance to create some magic and excitement. One of the most exciting things about childhood is the innocence loaded with imagination and magic. I mean if your kiddo believes in unicorns, who are we to tell them differently. So, let’s plan to make magic happen with a real live unicorn. Before I go any further, let me issue a disclaimer. Our magical session included the dresses you see in the pictures. All provided by our photographer. Saddle up while I tell you...

There are so many fun ways to celebrate Halloween – bats, pumpkins, scary ghost stories, skeletons, and candy galore! It is relatively worry free and provides an excuse to stuff your face with pumpkin Reese’s and other Halloween inspired goodies. I’m obsessed with Halloween! Even as an adult, I still love it! But, Halloween has definitely changed since having children. Below is my list of main contrasts: The Perfect Costume Pre-kids: You start thinking about costumes in September. It would have to be becoming and funny for all the adult-themed parties and costume contests. Post-kids: Your costume is now the last thing on your mind. You are consumed with gathering all the supplies needed for each child’s costume. Your house is a mess...
My husband is a carnivore, he wants meat with every meal. I, on the other hand, can be completely happy with a week of meatless meals. I don’t particularly like red meat and one can only eat so much chicken before you’ve just had enough. Over the years, we’ve worked in some meatless meals that we can both agree are tasty and filling.  Here are three meatless meals that are on the menu in our house and a couple of bonus soups. I think soups are great meals, but my husband says we have to agree to disagree on soup as a meal. These meals are also toddler approved, despite or maybe because of, ingredients like quinoa, couscous and lentils.  This...
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Red Stick Mom has partnered with the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence to help bring awareness to this important topic. Resources for getting help or reporting domestic violence can be found at the bottom of this page. Domestic violence awareness is rightfully getting attention over the last several weeks. Netflix’s ‘Maid’ is set to pass ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ as Netflix’s most-watched mini-series. The general response has been to the tune of “Poor thing… that is absolutely horrific,” as if these relationships only exist in fictional or far off places. If this is you, please know that, statistically speaking, someone you know is in one of these relationships, especially in Louisiana. Gabby Petito is now a name...
