1. What I’ll Teach My Kids About January 6, 2021

“For the first time in my life, I will face my audience without knowing the steps to the dance. I can compare what happened today, January 6th 2021 to the war of 1812, but not really. It’s not good enough. And I’m not sure I totally understand the footwork that led to such a tragedy. Make no mistake – they will hear me say tragedy.” Read more…

2. The Only Southern Utah Family Vacation Itinerary You Will Ever Need

In an effort to show our kids as much of the country as possible, my husband and I started gifting Spring Break trips as Christmas gifts to our two children a couple of years back. Our kids love traveling and have seen many states in their young years. Last year we when we were deciding on where our next adventure will be to, it was really a no-brainer. The most beautiful National Park of them all: Zion in southern Utah.Read more…

3. To Sha’Carri Richardson … from a Compassionate Mom

“Showing any form of mercy or compassion has been deemed a “weakness.” However, if being compassionate is a weakness then just call me weak. When our champions miss the mark of perfection, we immediately deem them as weak. We must unlearn this type of attitude.” Read more…

4. A Lot Can Happen in 12 Minutes…The Birth of my Twins

“Well, no less than ten minutes later I told my husband and my mom (who had joined us by then) that I thought I felt a little pressure. He asked if he should get the nurse. I hesitated….then said, “Sure, I guess it can’t hurt.” The nurse came in and checked me and very matter-of-factly stated, “You’re ten! Let’s head to the OR!” I was in complete shock that it went so fast but so happy it was finally time.” Read more…

6. Mastitis and a Midwife Saved My Life: My Breast Cancer Diagnosis

“My husband and I glamorously rang in 2021 by watching TV in bed as our children slept. Like many people, we were hoping to put the challenges of 2020 behind us, but things were off to a rocky start. “Slumps. Buzz kill, right? I was stuck in a slump with my fitness routine and really lacked motivation to continue exercising. You know how at the beginning of the year when you buy a new pair of shoes to motivate you to join the gym? That’s how this transformation project was for me, and because I am motivated by esthetically pleasing spaces, completing this project has seriously ignited my fire again. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always had a space to workout, but now I actually have a cute and functional home gym I am proud of.Read more…

10. When Tragedy Becomes Triumph … A Call to Give Back

“This month marks two years ago that my life was turned completely upside down in a way I never imagined possible. With one PET scan and oncologist appointment, my husband Taylor and I were facing his untimely death. We were in our mid 30’s with three daughters ages 11, 6 and 6 months. Prior to this day, a tumor had been found in his bladder, biopsy done, results given and now we were seated across from an oncologist to get the results of a PET scan.” Read more…
