Growing up, there was not a single person on earth more amazing than my dad. I have watched him rearrange work responsibilities, personal priorities, etc. JUST to make me happy. So, it goes without saying that these are the qualities I wanted in my husband for our children. To say that I am proud of my husband and the legacy we are building together would be an understatement. This is why today I honor you, my husband. Very little mesmerizes me more than watching my husband, Brandon, be the most committed and dedicated dad he knows how to be. Every single time I see you guide them and lay a foundation upon which they will build upon truly makes...
Growing up every female I knew was obsessed with her weight. At social gatherings, the men would be discussing sports and food, and I would hear a lady lean over to my mom and say "I have been good all week; I am going to be BAD and eat this chocolate cookie" before starting to talk about the gossip of the week. As a child, I saw things as either good or bad, healthy or not healthy, and if we as women were overweight, we were obviously BAD. I grew up for years thinking that in order to be a "successful" woman you must be under 130lbs, never gain weight as you age, maintain the status of the spouse...
I know that Easter is usually all about chocolate bunnies and lots of candy, but I have been trying to limit sugar and dyes for my kids recently because I have noticed a huge change in behavior with one child doing so. This year for Easter, I had to get kind of creative because I didn’t want baskets loaded down with candy! So, I decided to share my finds with you guys! I bought their baskets years ago from Five Below and I used my vinyl machine to personalize them! If you are looking for adorable baskets that won’t break the bank, go check them out. They have so many styles and colors and they are usually $5 and under! ...
Family Rules We implemented a list of three family rules that were most important to our family. We read them to the kids to let them know the expectations and also the consequences for breaking any of these rules. We’ve been doing this for a few months now and when we realize another rule needs to be added, we add them 1-2 at a time. The rules are posted in our family room for everyone to see. For example, keep your hands and feet to yourself is a family rule—if you don’t do this, you go to the corner for three minutes. Once you get out, you are told why you went and what the consequence will be on your...
My daughter was born a natural performer. She started ballet at three and flourished in classes. The annual showcase was when she did her best and performing in front of crowds of hundreds of strangers never gave her a second thought. We assumed that dance was her "thing." At around four, she started showing interest in tumbling. She would do round-offs and cartwheels in the yard every day until she physically couldn't. She came home from summer camp one afternoon in the second grade and proudly announced "I am going to do a back handspring like the big girls at camp do," walked outside, and nailed it. That's when I enrolled her in tumbling classes. I was absolutely unfamiliar with the concept of...
