As the title of this piece suggests when it comes to my hair I. AM. LAZY.
And it's not just the “mom who has too much on her plate” lazy. No, I can’t use that as an excuse because I have always been this way.
My mind literally boggles at the people who somehow manage to shower, blow-dry their hair, AND THEN use a curling iron to perfect their coiffure all before they start their day. Even when I worked a 9-5 job I couldn’t be bothered.
It was just so much work.
Before work!
Don’t get me wrong, I fully support this full-on lifestyle if that’s what you want and like. You do you, boo. And ya'll are great at it! But, I...
February is our family’s only month that doesn’t entail making a birthday cake. For all other months, there is a birthday…and there is a cake. And this, of course, does not include the cakes that usually are made for events such as graduations, sacraments, Mardi Gras, etc. Summary: in our house, there are a lot of cakes. This means that there is often a lot of leftover cake that just hangs around the kitchen until all of the cake is gone. What I learned very quickly as our family grew was that we only needed ONE day of cake because “sugared up” kids were no fun to manage. Since I am not one to waste, the “recycled cake” was...

So as Valentine’s Day approaches, it goes without saying that you now are faced with another task on the “to-do” list. Add this to the constant fluctuation of COVID rates, and what is one to do. Let’s just STAY HOME! There are several ways to make this Valentine’s Day memorable without the risk of large crowds.
Here are my top five Valentine’s Day at home Iideas:

Sometimes parenting solutions are the culmination of copious amounts of research and planning, due diligence, and exhausting effort. And sometimes, like a fortuitous fairy godmother, they just appear. Such was the case when I solved bedtime.
It happened by accident.
There I was, three years ago, cruising the aisles of my local hardware store, stocking up on batteries and flashlights and other hurricane season necessities, when I spotted them—small, battery-operated lanterns in a bunch of fun colors. It was an impulse buy.
“Huh,” I said to myself. “I bet the boys would like these.” So I tossed them into my basket with a shrug and went about my day. I had no idea what those two small lanterns would bring.
My kids were...
