Does anyone love doing laundry? Maybe you have an organized system to stay on top of the daunting piles brought in by both children and adults alike. Until recently, laundry was a never-ending task for me. As soon as I thought I had a handle on it, shock overcame me as I peeked into the closets only to be met with overflowing bins! How can tiny humans produce such large piles of dirty garments? I decided to research local laundry services. I knew the concept existed; however, I did not know much about the process. Baton Rouge has many options available to meet your laundry needs. Whether you want to retire from the job completely or send out some of...
In my mind, by the time my son got to his SENIOR year in high school, I would feel like a professional parent, right? By now, we have survived the newborn phase, toddlerhood, middle-aged weirdness, AND even pre-teen and teen drama. Although we have experienced a lot together over the years, this year has a lot of new - final athletic seasons, graduation, and college applications to name a few. As this year begins, in my gut I am excited. Excited to see my son grow and bloom into the young adult he is turning into. Excited to see him conquer his hard classes and a fun athletic season. Excited for the rest of our family to gather around and...

Fall is a time when people become cheerful (is it because it’s getting less hot?) and unified around pumpkins and football. People begin thinking of giving and gifting. Football season rolls in and for Baton Rouge, that means Saints and LSU games! Who doesn’t love a good tailgate? Here are some of my favorite things to bring to a tailgate/holiday party: Bacon wrapped dates These are some of my favorites in a pinch. 2-3 ingredients and ready in under 20 minutes. Although best served warm, they are allergy friendly and DELICIOUS! Brownies/cookies My favorite brownies are the gluten-free boxed brownies from Trader Joe’s! My...
For our Little Botanists There is something simply magical about growing your own plants. My two little botanists love seeing their plants rise out of the soil. Right now, we’re growing mint, strawberries, and greens. (We would grow beans but my oldest, Jack, is concerned about giants.) It all started at my parents’ house in Mississippi where they a large garden. My oldest, Jack, refers to it as his and his Pawpaw’s garden. They grow all kinds of vegetables, fruit, and flowers. My two little botanists love all of the plants.   Now we want to help you get started with your own garden. First, you need a designated area or planter for your plants. We have an elongated planter with space for each of the...

Halloween Movie Binge List

If you're anything like my family, Movie Night is an excuse to roll out a snack dinner or charcuterie board, pop some pop corn and snuggle in! But figuring out which movie to watch can take its toll on the jolly atmosphere. Which streaming service has Spookley the Square pumpkin? Is it Hulu? Netflix? Prime? Ugh! Never fear! I'm here for you! I've scoured our streaming services and compiled a list of some awesome Halloween & Autumn goodness -- and even sorted it by provider! I left off the horror films like Halloween, because well, we just aren't there yet. But these lists do cover a pretty good age range! As always, you can double check the movie ratings and...
