I love humiliating myself to Pandora’s music. Pandora has some of the best music channels. Pandora is usually playing through one of our cars or in the house from the phone app. Music really sets the tone in our home. It can even change moods. (Warning: I don’t have a teenager.) The first station is Disney Radio!!! There are a few amazing Disney stations with all of the songs we remember from childhood mixed in with the new songs of today. But this one is my ultimate favorite. Their music mix is incredible. They found my favorite songs from childhood and combine them with the best current singalong songs of today. It’s the best mix of nostalgia with new hits. If...
“I don’t know how you do it.” What a loaded statement. What does it mean when you hear it a couple of times a week? (More, if you actually leave the house.) The schedule of a working mom is packed. Baby chore servant, house manager, career connoisseur, friend, daughter, granddaughter… it is a lot. There are days when I wonder, “How do I do it?” It depends on the day and the level of support I have. There are (many) days when my uninspired bun means my husband is probably working offshore, and the days’ chores trumped my desire to have clean hair. If I look lost in my phone despite multiple children crawling on top of me, it means I’m confirming...
October is my favorite month! One because it is my birthday and two because of Halloween. Halloween is right up there with Christmas for me. I love Halloween, from the parties to the decorations! There are Halloween decorations for every style, from aesthetically pleasing to scary witches and goblins. We are a DIY family and love a good project we can do together. Below is a fun and an easy front-door project that we found on Tik Tok! Supplies you will need: Pro-Select foam board (Lowe’s or Home Depot) Several plastic skulls and other skeleton-type Halloween decor (We used skulls, spiders, skeleton hands, and rubber snakes from 5 Below and various dollar stores) 4-6 cans of Gaps & Cracks foam insulation ...
Preparing for a new baby is a wonderful time whether you are a first-time mom or are anticipating the arrival of a sibling for your little one. I remember researching what items I should register for and all the new baby “must-haves.” I read what to expect books for expecting and the first year as well as sleep training and new sibling books. I was all prepared for taking care of my little ones, but I was not as prepared for taking care of myself. The “fourth trimester” and post-partum recovery are not often discussed. It isn’t a fun topic like baby bassinets or names. It's gross, scary, and uncomfortable. But it is just as important to be equally as...
Fall is a seemingly elusive season in South Louisiana, but as soon as the air gets crisp, I’m wearing a sweater and looking for soup. This simple soup uses early fall vegetables, cooks quickly on the stovetop, and freezes well. It can even be modified to make it vegetarian/vegan. I first had this soup a few years ago when my grandmother brought me a batch when I was sick. Later, I copied it from my grandmother’s recipe book to add to my collection.  Since this soup uses basic ingredients it really can be made year-round, but fresh early fall vegetables like broccoli and carrots are the main ingredients. You can also modify and add other vegetables you like or have...
